Have not had time to listen to this tour until tonight, so I have only heard clips from this tour, but shows like tonight are why I no longer go out of my way to see Phish.
Last night’s show was amazing, really pissed at myself for opting for the two nighter in Nashville after Hampton over Chicago. The Punch opener was top tier and the energy carried throughout the set. Golden Age jam was super unique and easily my favorite since Vegas ‘16. This is the 3rd or 4th time this year they’ve played Tweezer>Golden Age. I’m going to wait to listen to tonight’s show once it’s available on LivePhish app tomorrow.
Ever since PhishOD merged with Relisten, they’ve been pretty quick to put up the newest shows. Big fan of this app
Amazed it still hasn’t leaked it’s 7 on the east coast. Still praying for Head Hunters like I do every year
What did Set 2 sound like? PT seems largely torn over whether it was good/bad, but most of the bad reviews were written last night whereas the good reviews were written this morning.
Cool idea, but poor execution. They didn’t even try to make them sound like what the album was supposed to be. They just sounded like crappy Phish songs they wrote yesterday imo. Wish I had been there though.
yeah, that's poor wording on my part. Just saying the actual songs didnt seem to have much to do with the 80's Scandanavian prog-rock gag.
The gig went over really well in person. Just a really, really good time. Love it or hate it, they still find ways to remain innovating and fresh after all these years.
so did it have sort of a self-deprecating vibe? everyone that I talked to that saw it in person had a good time but I'm struggling to 'get it.' Were they trying to do like a Electric Apricot/Spinal Tap sort of thing? the joke obviously didn't translate as well to couch tour, but honestly phish is about the live experience so fuck it. it was very cringey watching from the couch but at least some of the tracks had real synthy grooves with the potential to be funked out.
like is this their new alter ego (i.e. Humpty Dumpty in Digital Underground)? if that's the case I could see it become a pretty fun on-going joke if occasionally Kasvot Vaxt comes out to play the encore or something.
Been listening to "Gris Gris" by Dr. John since I first heard Mama Roux on the Bunny Radio in the days leading up to Curveball. This was Dr. John's first solo album (1968), and unlike any of his others or any other album by other artists I've ever heard. Definitely has a unique vibe. It just turned 50 years old and is still fantastic.
