Great thread, I'm going to take a few minutes right now to dig up my favorite Dead recordings. On the off chance anyone in this thread isn't already familiar with these sites, archive.org and nugs.net have some excellent stuff.

Absolutley, I used to hang out with some hippies that where all into underground rap. They had lots of good shit always playing at their house.

Here are some of my favorite Grateful Dead recordings. I'll post more tomorrow to keep this thread going.

This Jack Straw from U. of Oregon is my all-time no. 1. Funny story about why it's so much longer than most versions...Bob Weir's guitar got fucked up leading into the jam before the last verse so he had to leave the stage for a few minutes and Jerry didn't know what to do so he just improvised in a way he never really had with the song. The jam in this version is a full 4 minutes as opposed to the usual 1 or 2.

Archive.org was the bomb when they still had Grateful Dead sbds for download. You can only stream them now, but there are plenty of HQ auds still there if you look hard enough. I get most of my shows off of sendspace now.

You got it, I am actualy listening to their version of it right now. Railroad Earth has a couple members in it that were from From Good Homes. Railroad Earth is a little more bluegrass.

    Nice addition too. :thumb:
