You won’t be able to use it right away but you might be able to use it to order later on but it still might be able to help the person who gives you the code. I’d ask when ordering it doesn’t hurt.
Depending on where you live, Pelo outsources delivery with a shipping company that delivers shit like appliances too. The guys who brought mine were nice, but didn’t know dick about the bike.
Yeah I'm doing this. Hopefully tomorrow. The Black Friday accessories package "The Works" is being offered for free with purchase. Wife is excited. Gonna try and order tomorrow. If I need any code or whatever let me know but if it's just the Black Friday deal then I guess I just purchase it and get it automatically.?
I have very little spin experience. This will be new for me. As I said my wife loves it when she's able to go but we'll obviously both use it. It's not going to be pretty for me starting out ha.
The most annoying adjustment between wife and I is getting the handlebars back up to where I need them. Sometimes I just fix the seat and call that good
Bike should be here in a matter of days. Can y'all steer me to a particular page in here with good info to read or somewhere where I can get some beginner advice? Best advice clothing wise to wear starting out? Just looking for some solid beginner's advice.
Best advice I can give you is to just do it. If you’ve never done spin before, your ass will probably be sore for a week or so. It goes away. Don’t waste money on padded shorts.
You don’t need bike shorts or anything like that. Just be consistent and start with the beginners classes. I used to wear padded bike shorts but honestly for anything under an hour you really don’t need them. I wear compression pants but I have bad leg circulation. For me Bluetooth headphones were a must. Saddle height will be important Boo MFer! might be able to tell you his settings IIRC Duck Smoker is also your height they’ll be able to help you with that. If you have it set incorrect you’ll get knee pain and that sucks. Had mine set up wrong and it sucked. Make sure you have good towels cause you’ll sweat a good cloth for the screen is also a must.
Good stuff. Yeah figured I might could find a good deal on some compression pants or something with Black Friday/Cyber Monday. All I currently have are regular gym shorts.
While everyone here is an adult and can make their own decisions, there are reasons bike shorts/bibs with chamois came about. Anytime you wear lose fitting or 2 layers of bottoms then you create friction points. Friction points can chaffe and nothing like a chaffed crotch mixed with swamp butt. It is a great combination for infection to possibly take place. Do as you wish but if you are riding in your house, who is going to judge you for wearing the proper clothes?
I wear compression pants and dri fit shorts much like I would outdoors except outdoor I’d wear padded bike shorts too because I’d ride for 2plus hours. It just seems unnecessary for 30-60 min rides. Am I wrong?
I have essentially zero experience with cycling/spinning so I am open to whatever advice this group offers. If there are any bike shorts/compression pants recommended I'm open to this. I know y'all have said it takes 1-2 weeks to get used to riding on it.
I am assuming here but I am betting if you are buying it used; it’s bc someone didn’t use it that much/often. Those who use these regularly have a reason to keep it.
Wrong is the wrong choice of word because it is kind of preference and that is what you choose to do. Scientifically, from a health and aerodynamic (does not matter if you ride indoors or do not care about speed and wasted efficiency outdoors) standpoint, a single piece of tight-fitting, padded and moisture wicking clothing is the best way to go. If you have been fine that is great but anytime you layer or wear loose-fitting lowers you have a greater risk of having an issue. Continue to do as you want, no judgement here. Just wanted to know the new guys know the risk, even though it might be slight.
Most of the brands are going to make comparable stuff performance wise at different price points. With this item, it is much more preferable to visit a bike/sports shop and get the one that fits most comfortably. Bibs are far superior comfort to regular bike shorts. A good pair is usually in the $125-$150 range for bibs, $80-100 for shorts. Above that is meant for people that either spend 3+ hours in the saddle, do a lot of climbing or ride in super hot weather (different materials and associated price tags). Comfort and fit are the biggest things.
I wear Dinamik padded shorts that were only $45ish on Amazon. Am I missing something not having spent $80-100? They had good reviews, so I bought 2 pairs of them without giving it really any thought. Comfortable and still in great condition after a 10 months of heavy use. Unlike Beo, I still need padded shorts - wear them every ride. I still stand up every ~5-7 minutes to take a load off. Regarding advice, it's just really straightforward. Take some beginner classes and enjoy. For safety's sake, remember, you can't freewheel. The pedals don't stop unless you use the brake, and you might get bucked pretty good if you try stopping the pedals fast with your legs.
In my experience, the stitching comes undone and the material has stretched out on any pair of cycling shorts I have purchased in that price range. If you found a magic bullet at $45, good for you and keep doing it. Also, I support local shops and happily pay the mark-up to people in my neighborhood so comparing Amazon prices to local brick & mortar is not apples to apples.
Oh and Buzz , start slow and finish strong in workout intensity and weekly workload. Ask Jorts about biting off too much too soon.
On a.tramp ’s note Buzz make sure you do the cool down rides and stretch. Those really help you recover.
Gotcha. I tried riding in some Pearl Izumi MTB shorts I had, but not enough padding. I live so far from any decent shopping my nearest three bike shops are all Walmarts - these were a panic order on Amazon after first week on Peloton wrecked my crotch so I could keep riding after my purchase.
The bottom line is, if you find what works for you and makes you comfortable to ride, keep on doing it. If I did not live close to bike shops I would have thousands of dollars of unused and unreturned shit laying around as I am super picky and the world’s worst about sending boxes via mail. Just ask Celemo .
I wear boxer briefs and basketball shorts to ride. No bibs or padded shorts or any of that, and I don’t get chaffed.
Hello this is new bike rider louis. Let’s ride bikes through digital interface starting in 10-15 days. Yay.
On the real, I’ve always been more of a runner and lifter of moderate weights. Got really competitive running for about a two month stretch early this summer and was reeling off on average 7 miles per day, this would include some days where I might run nearly 20 miles. Really battled some injuries after that with a back that keeps flaring up on me and I compound it by not trying to strengthen my core. Haven’t really consistently worked out since May. Schedule is also becoming more trying for me and will only get harder when we start having kids. This feels like something that’ll be better for older Louis as I’ve dabbled in cycling sessions here and again throughout the years, and have always really enjoyed it. I’ve read this thread for months and have thought about doing peloton for the past 2+ years. Now felt like the right time. TL;DR: long time listener, first time caller.
Starting out the padded shorts will def cut down on soreness, but you're gonna get sore no matter. Amazon has a few that work well and wont break the bank. I usually only wear them now if I'm gonna do multiple long rides in a week. Def agree in the cool down rides and the 5 minutes stretches help too. Intro and beginner classes well help. Matt Wilpers has good cool down classes that have a few drills that will help cadence and imbalances and will help you have a smoother pedal stroke. HTH
think they changed that since you'd gotten yours way back in the dark ages. they kinda walk through and do the setup/fit suggestions now.
that's the idiotic response I expected out of you . now no more dipping for your pleasure . just do without . your real name , who you really are ,all your big talk , all of it means nothing to me nor do I care.. tell you what if others had fun its over your ruined a good thing for everyone . just because you can not stop running that suck . I just don't really even care any more kiss my ass kid .
Buzz I had a ton of cycling experience & despite knowing better, I let my competitive nature get the best of me. I pushed too hard, too fast, to stay near the top of the TMB Leaderboard. While I had the cardio to “compete”, I should have been building my base. Ultimately, I injured myself & dealt with IT Band Syndrome for about 6 months. I’m just now getting back into it. Start slow & listen to your body
Gubbs. I usually just scroll past his posts but from some reason Boo MFer! felt the need to engage him. I decided to stop that right away.
