congrats to Coach Brown and his family on the exciting opportunity to take WVU places Dana wasn't capable of doing
Imagine having Baker Mayfield and Patrick Mahomes in a 5 year span and accomplishing exactly nothing. Friggin yikes
we preferred the 11-win guy out in the wilderness over the 10-win guy fueled by players that teams like auburn couldn’t sneak past compliance
That's a really good hire for WVU. WVU is a tougher gig with the conference deal, but I think he'll do well there.
Matt wells has literally never won 11 games (in 6 seasons. Yikes!) and had 3 straight losing seasons despite taking over a team that had just gone 11-2 lmfao
All time great nicknames: - "Little" Marco Rubio - Elizabeth "Pocohontas" Warren - Jeb "Low Energy" Bush - Matt "3 Wins" Wells
He didn’t coach the bowl game. And given his recent track record of losing bowl games and not even winning enough games 3 years in a row to make one (despite everyone making bowl games these days), its fair to say he would have lost that one too.
National media praising wvu for the best hire of the season Meanwhile no one even knew who tech hired besides a guy that destroyed a once proud program
You hate to see this. Wells only missed bowl eligibility once. You can't tout his losing bowl games from 6-7 seasons to in the same sentence say they didn't even go to those bowl games. Try harder. But good hire WV, Brown should do well there.
WVU just started a QB that couldn’t beat out Malik Rosier and had to transfer.... you should just end your program at that point
At only 38 years old, having accomplished so much on the field during his brief coaching career, many people are calling Neal Brown the next Nick Saban.
I did a little digging and this is what I found: Troy had not had a double digit win season between 2001 (their first year in 1A) until the hiring of Neal Brown in 2015. Brown had 3 consecutive double digit win seasons in only 4 seasons as HC of Troy. In the four years prior to Brown's hire, the Trojans finished 7th, 6th, 3rd, and 7th in the Sun Belt. Brown had them trending upward immediately, finishing 5th, 3rd, and first the last two seasons. Can't argue with results folks.
Three consecutive double digit win seasons is certainly impressive. Ya know, that number “three” reminds of the time Matt Wells won three games in a year at Utah State.
it's like this killer nerd hasn't even seen that Mack Brown "walking the walk" recruiting article that's making the rounds shaking my darn head
Being the first to break the Steve Alford news and this news is pretty huge. I’m now tmbs #1 journalist
