For sure. Phoebe fucking belts too. All three are incredible. It's pretty crazy how bad the ladies are beating the dudes' asses in indie music right now.
Only remember seeing her name in passing before reading this post. I've now watched this video about a dozen times
I just started following this thread recently and heard Boygenius for first time. Had never listened to those 3 before and now have had them all on a loop with Phoebe leading the way. Stranger in the Alps is amazing. I immediately bought the vinyl after listening to it once through.
couldnt really get into her earlier stuff, but this new sharon van etten album is solid (lot of nice releases this week really)
Ugh, I’m not really a fan of this “tease the songs out over months” thing. Excited for the album though
Yeah, it feels kind of anticlimactic when an album drops and you've already heard half of it. This being such a long album makes it a little better, but still not a fan of it. I'm an album guy, so I'd rather hear it in it's entirety for the first time.
So far for 2019, we get 3 albums from ryan adams, 2 from Foals, and a double from VW? Plus new Beirut, new Josh Ritter with Jason Isbell. What else am I supposed to look forward to?
Ex Hex Maybe Real Estate PUP Strand of Oaks Steve Gunn Jessica Pratt HEALTH Cass McCombs The Raconteurs William Tyler Jenny Lewis Panda Bear Oh Sees probably http://www.brooklynvegan.com/25-albums-were-anticipating-in-2019/
Haven't heard anything specifically but I would imagine Big Thief will have a new album out at some point this year.
I’m at an old alternative concert right now at a reboot of an old famous venue. Very weird but good. APB at My Fathers Place in Roslyn NY. Talking Heads, U2, the police and many more played here in the 70s and 80s.
I’m sure I am older than you. 50 this year. This was my junior high school music on WLIR, which is a famous NY new wave station.
music Yesterday I drove from Shamrock TX across NM and into Flagstaff. It would have been a magical day on its own Having amazing music like Hoops, Beach House, DIIV, Real Estate, William Tyler, Snail Mail, Colleen Green, etc along for the ride made it so much better Grand Canyon this AM
new steve mason album is fantastic (though I am biased and love everything he has been involved with)
in a hotel room in the San Joaquin Valley. Driving the last 180 miles or so in the AM and moving in tomorrow afternoon. This time tomorrow I expect to be finishing up some Chinese food while listening to Real Estate and preparing to sort through boxes and shit
Caleb Elliott, “Makes Me Wonder” For years, Caleb Elliott has built his reputation as one of the Bible Belt’s go-to sidemen, touring with artists like Nicole Atkins while also writing string arrangements for the Muscle Shoals-based label Single Lock Records. Here, he doubles down on his solo career with a song that blends the cool strut of a 1970s film soundtrack with orchestral flourishes and a steady, unhurried groove. https://www.rollingstone.com/music/...try-songs-this-week-maren-morris-yola-782016/
Not sure how long the new Deerhunter has been out but I gave it a spin today. Was in and out because I was working but definitely like it a lot more than last album.
tbh I’m surprised Conor signed to a secretly group label. Normally he only puts stuff out on saddle creek, team love or Wichita
Exactly. I know he’s not in love with SC and doesn’t do much work with them these days, but it’s still surprising given saddle creek’s recent upward trajectory with some of their signings of late
new song is good, and so is that pic: http://www.brooklynvegan.com/jenny-lewis-shares-red-bull-hennessy-details-new-album/
