I had a friend who went and while he wasn’t expecting to be on a private jet he fully thought he’d have a chance at hanging out with some Instagram models. My friends and I told him this was going to be a disaster from the start and he didn’t want to listen. As I think I posted in here when it happened, the disaster was so much worse than even we could have imagined and we enjoyed every second of it. The documentaries gave us yet another reason to make fun of his ass.
Given how lazy they were do you think they took the time to actually sign rental contracts on 250 houses? Are there 250 houses to rent on that island in general? Especially during the Regatta week? The logical thing to do with keys to 250 rental houses you are going to disperse quickly is just throw them in a box. So yeah it’s a lie.

this whole thing has been fascinating for me to follow because it combines my two professions in music (formerly) and social media. Their influencer campaign was brilliant from a content standpoint, and is one of the primary reasons the FTC requires influencers to add a #ad or similar to their sponsored posts. Billy is a sociopath and very obviously a liar who was in over his head, but the fact that it got as far as it did means tons of people carry some blame, even down to the agents for many of the acts on the bill. When booking a festival you’re usually working 8 months out MINIMUM. When confirming an act, especially for a one-off event and not a date on a tour, there are several rounds of deposits required throughout the course of time. Any agent worth a shit (or their assistants) will be in communication with the festival promoters pretty regularly, making sure deposits are wired, production has the required back line and lighting and the like, the festival has the appropriate insurance, etc but none of this was done. Also - planning a festival on a developed piece of land with plumbing, electricity, roads, etc takes about a year when factoring in all the logistics that goes into it. From the jump there was absolutely no way this was happening

The girls at that level (emrata, Bella, etc) have full Pr and management teams. I doubt they knew going into it what a shitshow it was going to be and thought they were just promoting a festival like normal. But I don’t think there is any doubt that there was a time that they knew it was going to be a disaster and they still took their money and didn’t do anything to assist with the ensuing mess (that’s why none of them went). I haven’t really seen any of them do anything after the fact either but I may have missed that.

Yea I know the dad (Mohammad Hadid, big LA developer) pretty well through my former boss. Oddly enough don’t think I have ever seen either Bella or Gigi out anywhere.
