I am completely blindsided by Beck's heel turn. I never saw this coming. Once he went Never Trump I thought that was it for this highly principled person.
The Preet interview on Ari Melber right now is pretty good. He just said he thought about recording Trump.
I'm old enough to remember that the brave and patriotic John McCain's last political act was to remain in office long enough to ensure that his replacement would be appointed by the republican governor of Arizona and not by an election, thus ensuring that the man he apparently despised had another lackey in the senate for at least two more years. John could have stepped down and given the people of Arizona the opportunity to make a decision about whether they wanted a Trump loyalist to replace him or would prefer a candidate who would stand up to Trump. But honest John McCain always stands up for what he believed in which was *checks notes* "whatever narrative we can make up that makes him look good in the moment but dispense with if later found to be inconvenient."
This goes against the projections of every economist that I have spoken to. Let alone the fact that I think most people acknowledge that we will have some type of recession within the next two years.
Haven’t economists been saying for like the last decade? Tbh I just assume economists are full of shit.
This is the longest recovery in history. We are due. One of the things that allowed it to last this long was the fact that it was such a slow rate of growth compared to previous recoveries. Of course economists can be wrong and judging timing is really hard, but hard for me to imagine we are not looking at a recession soon, and I don't think Trump's policies are helping prevent one.
not sure i've accepted that jr wrote an op ed to tell May that she should have listened to his dad what a farce this all is
Again none of this is new and "economists" have been saying we're due for a recession for years but...when? They're full of shit IMO. No one really knows.
I guess it depends who you follow, but I don't think you can just make a blanket statement that they are always saying that. All economists aren't the same. The few I listen to have predicted 2020 for awhile. Doesn't mean they will be right, but without going into why, I feel comfortable with that outlook. That said, form an historical context there is no precedent in modern history for a recovery to last this long, so I think logic alone dictates that we are due. Five more years of growth, and at that rate, and without any sign of a downturn can only be chalked up to politics. I will honestly be shocked if we hit 3% for this year let alone the next five.
I am sure you’re right and the people who study this and do this for a living are all full of shit and don’t know what the fuck they are talking about.
Look for Republicans to do everything within their power to prevent Democrats from using any tactic that they used to gain power or to reverse their power.
Economics is a soft science. There's a ton of economists who are full of shit. If they had the answers, they'd just make a killing playing the stock market.
Message board tough guy talk aside, I’ll be pretty disappointed in myself if I see any of the obvious names from the awful list of GOP and don’t heckle them. People should honestly just say “coward” to Marco as he walks through airports. Fuck these people.
This is a ridiculous criticism of Gillibrand. The tweet says “causes”, as in more than one thing causes opioid abuse. Reducing a portion excess supply is a good thing. Not every tweet can be perfect, not every policy is going to solve all the problems. It is a positive incremental step.
Cue the narrator voice GOP is nothing if not reflective of their voters cool cool. Guess the "human trafficking" part doesn't matter - it was effectively just an excuse to call ICE on the victims of human traffickers. And if you're rich and connected? Indulge all you want on those victims
a totally out of context private dab, GOT HIM! Spoiler I probably dab in the privacy of my own home once a week
It's not, though. People who get major surgeries are on that for much longer than a week and might have to start percocet and the like after a month. It's not an incremental step, it's a hard cut off. Medical associations should be the ones setting guidelines
Just drag that surgically repaired achilles down to the doctor then to the pharmacy. C-section? Bring the baby!
I haven't seen stickers for it yet, sadly. If he won he'd have the world's easiest slogan for a campaign for a second term: 4 more years Pete! Spoiler we're above re-pete puns itt
