Both of the “downloading” and “bus transfer” convictions were felony (and it needs to be a felony to be removable) theft convictions, which have been held to categorically be crimes involving moral turpitude. I hear you. In my community this is rampant, and when colleges evaluate students they use students from the same school for comparison and only take a percentage of those who apply. Basically my kids compete heavily against their friends and peers, so it's frustrating when you know some aren't doing it right. I have seen some fucked up shit. I know of parents who helped their kids cheat on IQ tests (they send them to a psychiatrist a month or so before they take the actual to get the questions). This helps them qualify for gifted programs. I've see parents hiring their teachers as tutors. Not a cheat, but many parents spend $5K for SAT or test prep. It's crazy.
