It makes me like him more. He didnt slip and fall into this. He used social media to finesse the system and get himself out there. Good for him. In the early 90s, you had guys doing things like Bad Boy's B.I.G Mac campaign, a cassette tape with Craig Mack on one side and Biggie on the other. They'd post up at McDonalds and give them away. That's how people learned who Bad Boy was. Legend has it they'd put the tape between two buns with lettuce and give them away like that. It took them months to reach a few thousand people and hope those people would make copies and spread it. Now these kids can reach millions in that time. Music isnt in the hands of a few record execs anymore.
Bar I was in last night played this song at least 3 times last night and people went wild every time.
You know why the original was removed from country charts? Because a twang doesnt make something country. Hth
Circa 1992/1993 young blind dog was in middle school and one of the first concerts I ever attended was at my friend's bday party, Billy Ray in Pine Bluff, AR Later that year at my school's talent show me & a few of my friends wore white t-shirts tucked in our tight rolled blue jeans on bar stools and sang Achy Breaky Heart
It’s an okay song to me. I do like the cross-genre musician collaborating though. Hip hop and country share some of the same foundations so it doesn’t shock me that it goes together so well. Good for Billy Ray to step up and help get this artist his due.
Chris Stapleton - fire away, Tennessee whiskey, whiskey and you, traveller Jamey Johnson - in color, can’t cash my checks, high cost of living, lonesome road
I wanted to take the weekend to let this breathe but I'm ready to declare this the song of the summer and possibly the track of a generation.
If you’re gonna recommend Stapleton you should include Midnight Train to Memphis imo. This performance with sturgill was great: Spoiler
