Do Mallory fans like her for her Game of Thrones stuff or do they genuinely enjoy her sports takes too? I like that she’ll give Bill a hard time but her voice is pretty bad and she takes 15 minutes to say something that might need 2 tops. She said Daniel Jones taking over for Eli was one of the craziest sports stories ever.
I'm Mallory neutral...I think. I appreciate her knowledge on the nerdy stuff like GoT, HP, etc. However whenever she's talking about that stuff, she comes off like she knows all and her opinion should be unquestioned which I find kinda offputting. I haven't heard hardly any of her sports takes. I'm mainly familiar with her work on The Rewatchables where she has a tendency to over-sexualize things and kinda becomes a try-hard showing she's "one of the guys" but whatevs
It sounded like he wasnt a big Metallica fan and finally went to a concert and didnt realize how popular Lars was. He said he hasnt been to many concerts were a drummer was featured so promimently.
If you are a ringer employee not named Kevin Clark or Robert Mays, odds are i do not enjoy your sports related podcast content.
I guess getting a new partner for the pod would suck. But he just moved to LA for this. I would not be shocked if he ended up at barstool since he is close with the PMT guys and they don’t have a CBB pod
Agreed, it was the only good CBB pod. Finding another co-host would have been forced though, as much as I hated Tate co-opting Bill's Boston-centrisim except for Carolina.
finished the klosterman pod, he continues his descent into just being a moron. he also has russilo disease of "so i saw this guy on twitter" to start any take he has to create a straw man. weirdly simmons political takes weren't as bad as I expected, he's clearly a very online lib but is scratching at actual real things with some of what he said. chucks just an idiot. they both have old rich guy takes on lots of things but i expected that.
i liked some of his earlier books, and I guess the novelty of his kind of sideways takes on things used to be interesting but now it's clear just his brain isn't functioning.
I thought a Titus, Kyle, and Craig podcast could of been decent, but don’t blame him for leaving aftercare Tate did. Hopefully he can end up finding another good guy to play off of assuming he launches a new pod somewhere. Tough look for Kyle’s tattoo, though.
i think you also getting older has had an impact. stuff we thought was insightful at 22 doesn't seem so much at 32
I dont mind Chuck. He's always been a little too hispter for my taste but I like him when paired Bill. He will challenge Bill. I miss their mailbags.
I still remember a pod from like 5 years ago where Chuck said that Lucas should sell the rights to Star Wars and all future Star Wars movies to the government to pay down our debt.
Agree, overall their college sports content/coverage is severely lacking, IMO. I understand that the NFL and NBA is where the money is, but college football and March Madness are huge draws and money makers
I understand that, but they are almost ignoring a large portion of American sports. Who is their college football guy? Russillo? And he just got there
I’d rather sites like the ringer attempt to focus on various sports and be really good at it compared to try to be all encompassing and suck at all of it. They don’t need a “college football guy” because they don’t cover college football.
It’s crazy how little I listen to The Watch now with Greenwald barely on. I was listening back in the Hollywood Prospectus days and it would be near the top of my rotation with each new episode. Barely enjoy it anymore. And I’m not even some huge Greenwald fan. He annoys me at times but their chemistry is so good that I would listen to them chat about stuff I didn’t care about. Now I only check in for things I do otherwise I skip it.
I hope you guys have people in your personal lives who think about you as much as Bill thinks about Donald Trump Jr
Lol fuckin bill. Remember the Titans... Bill: wait are there any n-words? Bill: *here let me butcher Gary’s last name, even though they only ever call the character by his last name* Thanks for rewatching it before the pod, bill!
It seemed like something Shea really wanted to do this pod and begged Bill. Bill ragged on RTT back on Page 2 which I remembered reading back in the day. He's come around since he has kids now. Rembert Brown even said he never saw the movie all the way through. Just saw piece by piece like 20 times. Dont know why they didnt pick a better movie they all liked. I dont even like the movie myself and thought it was way too Disney and hokey. Glad they pointed out all the inaccuracies in the beginning.
Shea posted a poll on Twitter asking which movie they should do, RtT or Den of Theives. This episode is all Shea's doing
Replying from a few pages back, but I really like Mal in her pop culture coverage. I loved Binge Mode Harry Potter and GOT. Honestly I ignore her on almost all sports takes.
My main experience with Mal is through Binge Mode HP so every time she has a take about sports it throws me for a loop She's was fantastic on Binge Mode HP though.
i think we are at the point where we are in dire need for the next sports person to come along. all of the espn personalities have moved on and are so far on the back 9 they can see the clubhouse. Bill was the guy for a long while, but he has reached the point that his viewpoint is limited to his kids and the aging hipsters he has surrounded himself with. the barstool thing jumped the shark a long time ago a la stern going to sirius/xm. It is so apparent that most of these personalities just watch some of the NFL and then their favorite teams in the other sports, if that. they just rely on the off-the-field headlines to fill time until the playoffs come around. the whole industry just needs a shake up in the worst way. am i missing some obvious source of quality content?
Sunday: "I need to take more time to research before I give my take" Tuesday: "welp Its uhh complicated" great research Bill! ESPN employees, who could lose their job by going political, staying silent: cowards Man who owns a company with 0 assumed financial ties to anything Chinese taking zero actual position: "nuanced"
I wonder if Bill's research discovered that China is ethnically cleansing the Uyghurs. I won't comment until I learn a little more about the story.
