Yes, and a 25 year old. You just said mid-30s and 17. He didn't say that. You added 10 years of age to the oldest person in his scenario.
Again, the one I replied to removed the 25 year old requirement (which was then reinforced by his response regarding dudes on this board lusting after underage actresses, who I estimated to be in their mid 30s). Please, by all means, keep defending this weird behavior.
Getting a little revved up by a television actress who isn’t yet 18 is the exact same thing as having sex with your underage student Thanks Fecta
I might have missed some posts in there as I was skimming through then. Obviously adding another decade makes that much weirder. That being said, I still can't get behind calling it pedophilia. I had graduated high school by the time I was 17.
This is where electronic explains how someone goes from throw up gross to hot as fuck on their 18th birthday
Are you unclear about my opinion? We have a huge problem oversexualizing children in this country, and apparently a problem with creeps on this board trying to operate in the gray area of pedophilia. If nothing else, anybody who makes a statutory argument about the acceptability of having sex with children is a humongous creep.
Or I do this for a living and kind of got into this whole discussion because I have problems with constitutionality of automatically assuming that someone of legal age is incapable of consent with a teacher. Teacher should lose license in that scenario and many times I would imagine there was coercion that makes the teenage incapable of consent, but there's a lot of argument, that I think is persuasive, that those statutes are not valid constitutionally.
I feel pretty comfortable saying that a person who can’t legally purchase cigarettes or get a bank loan can’t legally consent to sex with an adult. On the other hand, it’s real goddamn curious that these conversations occur when discussing sex, and never when discussing mental capacity to enter into contracts or do other adult things. Wonder why that is.
The problem is, in about 80% of the states in this country, people who can't legally purchase cigarettes CAN consent to sex with adult, be that adult 18 or 45 (provided that said adult is not a teacher where kid is a student).
Why aren’t you posting about that topic, if it’s truly the constitutionality of consent that you are interested in?
I have on this board before. But, I didn't say that my argument ended there. I just can't agree to calling someone who has sex with someone of legal age a pedophile. I think that trivializes true pedophilia.
Yeah, I guess I am a bit unclear. Do you exclusively watch MILF and granny porn, and feel sick to your stomach when seeing college girl porn? Because you're like 40 right?
Would love to see those discussions. So you’re basically concern trolling. What do you think trivializes pedophilia more, people saying that 18 year olds are oversexualized and that it’s weird for adults to fetishize them or that 18 ain’t nothing but a number?
I think the over-sexualization of 18 year olds is only trivially connected to pedophilia. Pedophilia is almost universally accepted, and may even be universally accepted, as involving a prepubescent child.
Maybe I am reading that wrong, but did just white knight pedophilia and pedophiles? Honestly what in the actual fuck.
Pedophilia from a clinical perspective, the DSM definition, is involving prepubescent children but also has a bunch of other requirements to meet the definition. Pedophilia as commonly used by regular people, is not that restrictive the pedantry is so fucking strange and makes anyone who is educated on the topic super suspect of your intentions
We need a good sliding scale for this whole thing cause having hard cutoff dates for today dating X person is illegal and two days later it's fair game is a stupid system. I have always agreed with the rule that you should never date someone who is younger than 1/2 your age plus 7 years. I don't think that quite works as smoothly in a court of law but something of that nature would be better.
People acting like watching porn of or being attracted to legal adults is a gateway drug to banging kids are fucking stupid.
I've never in my life heard someone refer to somebody as a pedophile that was involved with 17-18 year olds. Those people are in some cases absolute creeps, but arguing against using the label pedophile in that situation isn't being a pedant. Because throwing that term out there in that situation keeps you from being able to have any rational discussion about things are not clear cut when you're talking about a 23-24 year old person.
the problem arises when people start stretching that 17yo bar down to 14yo like who gives a shit if people call a 60yo having sex with a 16yo pedophilia in regular conversation everyone here understands the dynamics of a 17yo freshman college student and a 22yo senior, trying to get mad at someone for not using the clinically correct (not even 100% there unless we know all the other specifics) terminology is unnecessary setting aside the loudest voices on the internet who are trying to make this specific carve out, because I don't think you're actually trying to do that. it does taint my view of these discussions though.
A 21 yr old that sleeps with a 17 yr old isn't a fucking pedophile. You have to be a thick headed fucker to think they are.
I tried to make this point earlier and several folks here flew off the handle and it somehow devolved into someone attempting to argue it should be criminal for a professor to fuck his grad student. I don’t think non-lawyers understand what we are trying to convey.
I don't necessarily disagree with you, but I don't think that's a real problem at all, because you don't stretch that bar below the age of consent. I don't know if it's clinically automatically pedophilia in that case, but probably is and it's nearly universally accepted as illegal, and unless you're in one of those age gaps for kids of close age, people should be locked up for a long time and registered as sex offenders. What started me down this hole, was some people acting like it was excusing pedophilia when you're talking about a 25 year old teacher and a 17 year old student. That's not pedophilia. It may be "wrong" but it's not anywhere close to adults and prepubescent kids. And if we accept that people of that age can consent to sex, I don't think you can then blanketly say it's rape, due to incapability of consent, when it's a teacher. Should be a fact analysis in each case, though no problem with firing and taking occupational license away forever.
If you're into nubile porn, it might not be a gateway drug, but it's certainly questionable. Some kinks deserve shaming.
