General thought. I really hate the fact that through this whole process the GOP has really tainted the term Whistleblower - which is a positive, worker protection mechanism. And now is turned into this negative thing.
i forgot hunter biden dated his dead brother's wife after he died he also got married this year after ending a prior relationship months earlier he was proven to be the father in a paternity suit in arkansas basically he sounds like a huge scumbag and it's no wonder his dad is basically a republican
I'm not going to paste the "Wrong kid died" gif from Walk Hard because that would be in really poor taste.
I have an interesting thought exercise. Dems WILL pass articles of impeachment, with or without House R's. Do they abstain? Voting in any way serves to immediately paint them 1) a traitor to the country (probably this) or 2) a traitor to Trump. The only gain for Dems if House R's vote in favor of impeaching the president is that it suddenly can no longer be painted as a partisan hoax. So House R's have to fall in line if only to save their Senate R comrades. But doing so suicides their chances of reelection with the cult base. Idk what my point is, I'll take my answer off the air.
I hate all these fucking dweebs in the Republican Party doing this shit, they’re all Heimlers, not hitler
These assholes are ruining whistleblower status for everyone. Without whistleblowers marching bands would be in disarray, parades wouldn't start as efficiently and no one would know when shit was about to get real in Guns N Roses' classic anthem, Paradise City.
That was one of the subtle things that Swalwell did by recognizing Holmes for coming out and getting a medal for bringing up an issue with the Obama Administration. Obama gave him a medal for speaking out. Nice contrast.
Could anyone provide a strong, concise rebuttal to the Right's talking point that Trump-Ukraine-Biden is not substantially different or worse than Steele-Russia-Trump? I'm aware of some key differences, but I don't think my response is effective enough and I may be missing a point or two. Thanks.
The president using his power as the director of the country's foreign policy to help himself out with domestic politics is quite a bit different than a private entity like the Democratic Party doing something shady like paying a foreign source for opposition research
1. Involves using tax payer dollars that he does not have a right to use in order to personally benefit his campaign and he wanted a public announcement of a conspiracy theory with no expected outcome. The scheme was actually contrary to public interests as it means weakening our own security by further empowering Russia. 2. Steele is a private/paid person who was researching Trump on behalf of Republicans and then Clinton using private money AND the information was not used to try to win an election.
This part:: i forgot hunter biden dated his dead brother's wife after he died I don't know who they are talking about
And if anything you kind of expect political parties to do shady stuff, for better or worse You don't expect the president to send an ambassador out to seek damaging information about a potential opponent in the next election here
Tell them it’s the same thing and since trump and the republicans want that to be a criminal investigation, this should be too. If they agree to impeach and remove trump from office we will do the same to Hilary.
Thanks for the response(s). Regarding your second point, the DNC hired Fusion GPS to investigate Trump, so shouldn't it be argued that the intent of the research was for election purposes? Or is it your point instead that the investigation was for political purposes, but the fruit of the investigation never ended up being employed by the Clinton campaign?
Well yeah, it's a political party. The difference here is that there is supposed to be something of a wall between the president as a politician and the actual job of being president. It's similar to why he can't have the secretary of defense speak at a campaign rally.
hunter biden had a brother but then his brother died which many people say led to trump being elected after hunter’s brother died, Hunter began slamming his brother’s widow
Regarding Trump-Ukraine-Biden vs. Steele-Russia-Trump... Where does Trump & Co. consorting with an assumed hostile government (i.e., Russia) versus Steele working with The Five Eyes fit into the distinction? Certainly this is not at all a minor difference, right?
By all accounts, Hunter Biden is an absolute piece of garbage, but the irony of the GOP and Trump, with the father of all trust fund piece of garbage children, attacking him, is awful.
It’s almost like Jack doesn’t understand what the fuck State and Intel really do that it would make complete sense that is happening
So now what? This goes to the Senate, they wipe their asses w/ the testimony and we all gotta sniff Donnies farts for the next year?
Doubt anyone here is holding out hope that the Senate will convict and remove. The ultimate hope is that the impeachment and conviction trials harm Republicans enough that they lose at least two of the House, Senate, and certainly the White House in November. The Democrats securing the House and the presidency would be an outstanding victory for the country, democracy, and the rule of law.
The DNC used financial contributions regulated by campaign finance law to pay a private party for a service consistent with the purpose of the contributions. That service in and of itself neither violated the law not required the contracting parties to violate the law or make false statements. Donald Trump used taxpayer funds to help his campaign by coercing and/or bribing a foreign government into taking an action they did not want to do, using additional taxpayer funds dedicated literally towards helping Ukraine fight a war against Russia as the leverage. Donald Trump’s offer violated campaign finance law, violated laws on bribery and misappropriation of appropriated funds, had the intended effect of harming an ally in its effort to combat an adversary (which happened to help Donald Trump win election), violated Trump’s constitutional duty to faithfully execute the law and solicited statements that the parties knew had no basis in fact and that would violate international law in their intent to impact US elections. These actions were and continue to be unacknowledged by the administration.
Trump is using our money for his political purposes. The Republicans and Democrats were using their own money for political purposes, BUT did not use that information to help win the election. If they did they would have released it prior to the election. That point is actually irrelevant from a legal standpoint, but interesting when a republican tries to both sides it. Bottom line is this is legally financed opposition research. You can't use government money to not only do opposition research against an opponent but to falsely have them accused of something that you don't even intend them to look into. You are allowed to research your opposition. You can't enlist a foreign GOVERNMENT to do it for you and use tax payer money and have it go against the public interest. Everything is literally wrong in this case.
Nah not really. The only "outstanding victory for the rule of law" would be swift incarceration of the entire cabinet, and GOP leadership, as well as Robert Mercer, and immediate impeachment of all of the fraud judges that have won seats. Anything else is just "well the country is *nominally* functional, I guess"
No. Let’s send midwestern farmers and NY deli owners to conduct foreign policy in Eastern Europe, the Horn of Africa, and SE Asia.
It's certainly fair to say that anything short of a long list of incarcerations is insufficient. My definition of success here, though, is muted because of the country's fragile state. I do worry about the fallout from harsh -- albeit wholly deserved -- punishment. On the other hand, perhaps the country deserves to crumble. That's probably the nihilist in me talking.
An FBI agent appears to have altered something that lead to getting the FISA warrant used to investigate Page. It means we’re fucked.
