No, it was priced the same as regular Blanton's, the price card was still on the shelf, just no bottles.
Any of the Barrell Spirits bottles make the cut for “worth it” in that range? I know you guys are high on the Dovetail.
I had heard about it, tried it, and finally got a bottle of it. I was drinking some of my bottle and someone asked what it was, "It's a blend of bourbon and.... ohhhhhhh"
I know pperc15 loves the 14 year store pick I got for him, but WillieHuff isnt high on the 15 year for the price.
Personally, not wild about the 14 year bottle I picked up. Also, is EH Taylor Small Batch really a buy on sight? It's good but not on par with the others in the buy on sight list.
If you can get it for MSRP, I'd venture to say it's better than basically any other $40 bottle out there. Plus the packaging is cool, which is nice.
At that price point, Four Roses Single Barrel IMO EH Taylor Small Batch is readily available in NOLA and in Texas, or at least it was a year ago. It was my go to bourbon to give to people, and I'd call random liquor stores in a buddy's home town for him to pick up, and never once did they say they didn't have it. Called a random liquor store in SF 2 months ago and also did the same. Guess it's gotten harder to find
Getting married in a month and I am in charge of liquor for both the after-rehearsal dinner and the reception. For the after-rehearsal, I'm still figuring out how much liquor is needed, but grabbed a couple liters of Buffalo Trace when I saw them the other day. Any other suggestions for really good and pretty much readily available bourbons around $30? Was kind of thinking of grabbing some Elijah Craig. For the reception, I put the following order into my guy in NOLA. All critiques are welcomed, as I am about to follow up with him this week.
That’s a very generous bar. Assuming most of your guests will be drinking highballs, I’d say BT is more than fine with one or two bottles of a “sipping” selection.
I'm hoping he comes through with some kind of Weller since he knows I'm a fan. If not, I'm thinking of donating a handle of WSR to the cause for one of the nights.
Looks solid to me, and congrats. Elijah Craig would be good IMO. Now that we finally started this thread, take a look at the first post for some more recs. Also, for being one of the highest sellers worldwide, Evan Williams never gets mentioned around here. Some of their stuff is junk, but the Single Barrel is a solid under 30 bourbon.
I pay closer to $60. I used to drink it regularly and haven’t in the past few months since I started tasting everything so I need to get back to you. It was my go to every day.
tjsblue nice work on the OP. Bulleit is misspelled under commons. Add OGD114. ETL seems to be spoken highly of around here. Maybe add it under... buy on sight given its rarity in certain areas?
probably need to add ETL - can’t find that stuff around here anywhere except for one store charging like $200 for it, but their prices were ridiculous on all the other hard to find stuff they had too.
Anison this is out! WHAT DOES PEERLESS SINGLE BARREL SELECTION INCLUDE? Private barrel selection experience with Head Distiller, Caleb Kilburn 220 - 240 bottles of barrel proof Single Barrel Selection Peerless Kentucky Straight Rye Whiskey or Bourbon (price depends on the number of bottles the barrel yields) You keep your barrel! The complete single barrel purchase experience includes an estimated total cost of $27,500.
It is your favorite because I don't have a bottle! I is awesome. As discussed, I don't think mark up charge from the small batch is worth it, but like that matters.
That is correct. goblue31602 is a fan, but for the price & taste it is mostly good looks based on my travels & others comments.
