In TROS the heroes call Endor "where the last war ended" Meanwhile, ever since TFA, Jakku was dubbed in canon as the place "where the last war ended." Fucking JJ, these are your movies. These are your story points. It'd be one thing for him to contradict the prequels; I wonder if he's even seen them. But at least be consistent with your own movies.
you have to wonder if anyone really listens to the "story group" with those kinds of mistakes making their way into the mainline films.
Just finished the big picture pod on it Agree with basically everything they said positive and negative
Question for all: How would you feel if, in twenty years, after a trilogy or two set in the Old Republic, Disney does a reboot of the Skywalker Saga, retelling the myth of the fall of the Republic, the rise of the Empire, the fall and redemption of Anakin, the rebirth of the Jedi order, etc? Changes would be made, naturally, now that the whole big picture is realized. There wouldn't be any shoe-horning in of ideas or characters, or any retroactive justifying like the prequels had, and the sequel trilogy wouldn't be so helter skelter. In fact, you could just tell the original ideas for Ep7-9 that Lucas had in mind in the 80's. Instead of doing the Han rescue, Luke discovering a sister, redeeming his father, and defeating the Empire all in one movie (Ep6) you could space those out over Ep6-9 and do a totally different sequel trilogy. As a lover of stories I would be intrigued but obviously as a fan of Star Wars as depicted by Lucas, I would be sad. On the other hand, based on how die hard Star Wars fans handled moving the EU into "Legends" territory, I can't imagine the hysteria around moving Mark, Carrie, and Harrison into a new "Legends" camp. Just a random thought
It's already been 40 years and I don't want a reboot of ANH. Can't see 20 more yrs doing anything to change that. Alternative reply: Congratulations. That's the stupidest thing posted ever in this thread.
Stories I want to see before we even think about rebooting shit - Old Republic - Knights of Ren and Luke doing whatever he did w Lor San Tekka - Luke and Lando hunting Jedi Killers - Darth Vader hunting down Jedi after order - Creation of Enfys Nest - Qi'ra running Crimson Dawn w Maul pulling the strings in the background And that's just the shit tied to current stuff. Go do other things that we dont know about.
let the past die. kill it if you have to. move on and do something else. the universe is big enough and interesting enough. it's shitty enough that everything has to be a franchise but it'll be tragic when we start getting remakes of the terminator series, indiana jones, die hard, back to the future, etc.
I think Disney is smarter than that. They’re already seeing diminishing returns for paint-by-numbers (TFA, ROSW) or not fleshed out (Solo, TLJ) movies, and they’ve GOT to know any remakes will lose all the hardcore guys.
I can't believe Universal never commissioned a Back to the Future that moved the time scale forward thirty years the way IT moved from 1950's-1980's to 1980's-2010's. Not complaining, just surprised
I believe that somehow the rights to the franchise belong to Robert Zemeckis, and not the studio. He is understandably resistant to any remake.
with this franchise, that seems like it should be an objective tbh. SW spans movies, books, television, and games and decades for each of them and i can't imagine there's a more toxic fan base as a result.
Marvel has, conservatively, 10x the amount of background content and very similar target demographics. The existence, or lack thereof, of potential source material and passionate fans has nothing to do with the franchise’s reckless handling of the sequel trilogy
Went to the mall back at the parents and little to my knowledge they have a LEGO store. Merry Christmas to me/12 year old Ocho Spoiler
I'd rather he do a trilogy set a thousand generations in the future. No established rules, no lore, no canon, no expectations. Do Star Wars but do something really fresh
On a different note that will make 99% of you happy, I have refreshed my phone nonstop until Episode 8 of the Mandalorian showed up. At 3:28am its officially arrived!!
No Spoilers, Episode 8 was absolutely incredible.. It had everything you could ever want in a Finale.. Holy Fuck, I got to go watch it again.. So freaking good..
did the jedi texts that felt (to me) like they were such a focal point of ep 8 show up at all in ep 9?
She flipped through them to show a sketch of the sith wayfinder. I forgive Handcuffed because of the literal fuckton of plot crammed into our face during TROS.
Saw it. Movie sucked but I still liked it. Plot wise it’s just unreasonably dumb which is somewhat understandable considering it’s trying to recover from the last one. Biggest gripe is it’s largely unfunny even though it tries desperately to be. Which considering all the money they have they could at least make the dialogue funny. Just horrible one liners throughout. I know I’ll get shit on because there are a lot of differences between the two rn, but the biggest diff between SW and Marv is how much funnier the marvels movies are. The timing and one liners are just money almost all the time. Adam Driver and the girl who plays Rey were great though and saved the movie for me. Probably the best two performances in all the SW movies for me. They deserved a better script.
