MLB and FOX would love the Yankees in the World Series.

I'm sure they would. Too bad for them it's hard in this day and age for conglomerates to get away with cheating.

I had a 1989 Upper Deck box pulled out to open on Christmas but didn't get around to ripping it. Maybe I'll save it for this weekend or New Years. While upstairs digging through mountains of memorabilia and cards I came to the realization that I like this stuff. I like it as it was a big part of my childhood and it's not doing me any good upstairs in boxes. Aside from one painting of the dog and a death metal flag my walls downstairs are bare. I'm going to turn this place into a sports shrine, basically every room other than the one dedicated to music (walls are covered with CD racks). Autographed 8x10's, signed magazines, game used bats & jerseys, bobbleheads, the whole gamut. Is there a good place on-line to order picture frames in bulk? Any idea on how to display a few dozen bobbleheads, all together, sporadically?

Oh I can dream alright, Ambien will put you in dream mode while you're still awake, it's pretty cool. Hasn't happened in awhile though, when I first started on Ambien it was a regular thing.

It'll be heavy with 80's & 90's stuff. I decided it will not include assholes. This means no Bonds, Clemens, Winfield, Belle, Parker, Sierra, Knoblauch, Shaq, Stockton, Rider, Sprewell, Marino, Watters, etc.

Glancing at that list again I would like to add that I'm not picking on Yankees (for once). Clemens was a dick with the Red Sox, Sierra with the Rangers and Knoblauch with the Twins. Nothing about later in their careers playing for the Yankees turned them into dicks, they already were.

Personal experiences with them. Most American League players I would meet a dozen times a year... hotel, ballpark, airport.

I think I'm going to clear an area off where I can display some cards on little stands. I want it to be iconic cards I grew up with, so up to around 1992. I think 30-40 cards should do, the ones I don't already own I'll just get replica/bootlegs since I'm not about to purchase a '52 Mantle and a T206 Wagner. I don't want too many old cards as it wasn't my time period, most will be in the 1975-1992 range. Here's what I've written down thus far, am I missing any iconic cards from that period?

    1952 Topps Mickey Mantle
    1909 Piedmont Honus Wagner
    1968 Topps Nolan Ryan
    1980 Topps Rickey Henderson
    1989 Topps Ken Griffey Jr
    1986 Donruss Jose Canseco
    1984 Donruss Don Mattingly
    1985 Topps Mark McGwire
    1984 Donruss Darryl Strawberry
    1984 Fleer Kirby Puckett
1984 Fleer Roger Clemens (anti-asshole rule broken)
    1984 Fleer Dwight Gooden
    1984 Topps John Elway
    1984 Topps Dan Marino
    1990 Leaf Frank Thomas
    1992-93 Hoops Redemption Shaq
    1986 Topps Jerry Rice
    1981 Topps Joe Montana
    1990 Score Bo Jackson
1989 Fleer Bill Ripken Fuck Face
    1986-87 Fleer Michael Jordan
    1986-87 Fleer Charles Barkley
Damn near any other 86-87 Fleer card
    1987 Topps Randall Cunningham
    1979 Topps Ozzie Smith
    1987 ISP Ken Griffey Jr
    1972 Topps Julius Erving
    1987 Topps Bo Jackson
    1985-86 Star Michael Jordan
    1984 USFL Kelly/White/Young
    1975 Topps George Brett
    1979-80 OPC Wayne Gretzky
    1980-81 Topps Magic/Bird
    1983 Topps Tony Gwynn
    1982 Topps Cal Ripken Jr
    1989 Score Barry Sanders
    1986 Fleer Barry Bonds
    1992 Bowman ?

89 Upper Deck Griffey is the most famous card of our lifetime imo. Gotta have it. And I'd just do authenticatic cards, personally.

I probably have around 10 of them. To do authentic only I would need to drop the Mantle, Wagner & Star Jordan. I could purchase another Star Jordan (have had multiple in the past), just not interested in picking up a Mantle or Wagner at their prices.

I can't remember, was the Fleer the hot Bonds rookie or was it the Topps Traded or Donruss Rookies? I know way back one was more desirable than the others. I have the Topps loose, if it's the Fleer or Donruss I'll be cracking graded cards. And before anyone asks, I absolutely am that stupid, just cracked a PSA 9 '84 Gooden because I decided it needs to be part of my dream team and I'm not going to display a mix of loose and graded cards.

Since you bought packs as a kid, you also should do a framed set of absolute bums, guys you seemed to get in every pack who were terrible.

It should be terrible players with terrible pictures on their cards.

I nominate 1985 Topps Doug Frobel.

Uh huh. Between the Ms, Seahawks, and Sonics we have two titles. I think Sonics won it in ‘76?

Griffey got a lot of random people around the country to root for him (and also the Ms).

    Edit: ‘79; my bad.

Not that I remember. Not anything close to Griffey. It was a pretty wide gap from Griffey to everyone else. Canseco, McGwire, Clemens, etc. The difference is they made entire sheets of nothing but Griffey so the value isn't what it should be. UD cashed in on the Griffey hype and made over a million of them.

If you're going to display a Griffey card it should be the bowman or topps tiffany version.

I irrationally dislike the '89 Bowman set because the cards are too tall. Griffey Upper Deck is the GOAT but Donruss is very underrated to me.

I'd be interested to see whether you got a Griffey or not. I opened 4 boxes a few months ago and got 4 total - 2 in one box and none in another. None were above an 8 to my eye. No wonder the Pop report on that is 5.2% PSA 10s.
