That’s a not ridiculous price. If you’re looking for something to take home, I’d probably pull the trigger. I’ve only ever found BTAC at retail once in 5-6 years and it was at Costco of all places.
Tasted some of the Benchmark that’s been in the mini-barrel for four days, crazy the difference in flavors. Taken on a lot of the oak flavoring and the burn is down. I have no delusions of turning Benchmark into Eagle Rare, but it’s fun to see the change.
not enough to pull the trigger now - I wasn’t sure what secondary was on that my office is in a shitty part of town so I hit up a small store over here...they had one W12 & one Eagle Rare for $100 apiece. another small store down the street from them has 3 W12s at $150 a pop
I’ll play middle of the fence guy. If you are buying it dro from someone, yes. If you have to pay sales tax, no.
FYI, any of you Letterkenny fans? I plan on bottling my barrel in these This isn't the actual bourbon, but so far after about 10 days it tastes good. I plan on aging it another few weeks and then giving it to my Letterkenny fan coworkers in these bottles.
I am looking around locally for a couple of people on here. It seems to be more plentiful, but prices vary widely. What do you want to pay?
Not sure if I’ve just been lucky, but I’ve found them at $109, $119, and $139. I’ve also seen them at $199 and $219.
Total Wine guy said I had just missed their bottles for $49 by a couple days with no idea on when they’d restock but mentioned he highly doubted it’d be anytime soon. Settled for the sour mash. The hunt can get very addicting I can already tell. Generally speaking.
so price has already gone up if Total Wine is selling it for $49. Are you in NY? Which total wine do you go to?
The hunt is very addicting. I get just as much joy finding a bottle for a friend as I do finding one for me.
May have been $39 if $49 doesn’t sound right. I’m in Gainesville, Fl. There’s only one here that was just built not too long ago.
Unfortunately I don’t have any IRL friends that are this into whiskies (bourbons/scotches) like I am but I’m trying to make in roads with the local shops and bigger stores in town now. I hit gold status at ABC for all of 2020 so I’m curious to see what they’ll get. I’ll be posting anything I come across for the distinguished gents in here going forward.
it’s the same type of shitlords in beer. They don’t actually want the beer they’re waiting for, but want to either sell it on the secondary market or make ridiculous trade requests.
I’m not waiting overnight in line for some bourbon release. Literally nothing is worth that to me. If someone wants to do that and deliver a bottle to me at a markup I can bear, then so be it.
