To clarify, it’s not my collection. Also, it’s only two month’s worth of purchases. He only got bit by the bourbon but recently.
I have a couple bottles of it. I don’t know that I love it, but it’s an interesting pour every once in a while. A definite change of pace for sure.
Raffles, retail, accumulation. That’s all my unopened BT stuff right now. I like saving my big bottles for special occasions, one of my WLW’s is a 2017 which is my daughters birth year, the other two are 2018’s which I’m trying to swap one of for a 2019 which is my sons birth year. Been lucky with some stuff, and have had good friends help me out picking up stuff for me as they travel or as they see stuff pop up. I enjoy the hunt, it’s a fun part of the hobby imo.
That’s one that’s going to stay in the rotation. Never had it before until today and was pleasantly surprised.
Jesus Christ. Dads buddy has some William Larue. If I’m back at home soon you best believe I will be hitting him up for a pour
yes The void in my soul left from the 2014 LE bottle will never get filled, until I give in and buy a european one for 300
I’ve heard great things about the ‘14 but never had it. I love virtually all 4R so I need to track one down. I liked this year’s 4RLE but didn’t have any other years to compare it to
2013 four roses sble is my favorite bottle ever but they trade for $900 currently so fuck that and all.
I’ve only got one, but it’s delicious to me. I’d probably rank it right behind their SiB Barrel Proof, but that bottle ranks very highly for me against all others so that’s not a knock at all
There is a SiB BP JD store pick in a Delaware shop about 45 minutes from me. Don’t know if I can make the trip, though. Busy these days.
If you’ve never had one of those before, I’d make the trip for sure. Even if you have, I probably still would
Hard to say. If it’s a store that has a history of doing a lot of picks well, probably so. Especially if they are one that actually goes to the distillery to pick barrels. If they don’t do many picks, maybe not.
What are the reputable online sites? I’m contemplating gathering the GoT scotches (mainly for collecting purposes), and the only one that is not available in this area is The Nights Watch - Oban Bay Reserve bottle. If it doesn’t pop up anywhere around here I may just order it.
I think I may have seen the Oban Bay botttle in the last week at one of my stores I just can’t remember which one. if you’re willing to wait I can run by a couple by the end of the week and see if it was where I think it was. If so I’ll tag you what the price is and you can let me know if you want me to snag it for you.
I am getting to the point where I’m just going to buy literally any hard to find bottle I see then just figure out which of you bourbon-desert dwellers wants to send me a Venmo and shipping label. Ya’ll are depressing me. Give me some good news: Nashville Knight you burn that place down yet or what?
This should be your MO anyway. It’s only getting harder to find bottles. I used to have unlimited ETL and handles of Antique at state minimums. Now I can’t find either anywhere.
Yeah, I’m not passing on any $70 Blanton’s I see. I’m talking about the $300 bottle of CYPB, $130 W12, and the $3,000 bottle of OFC. Okay maybe not the OFC...
Side note, anyone tried the RC6 yet? Not sure if I want to open it or just let it sit until I get a few more years of the series.
Another store a few miles away from the Eagle Rare 17 asshole has 1 bottle of George T Stagg left for $299. Should I buy it? I have not tried it and my neighbor who waited in line at a Nashville store bought other allocated bottles over GTS, but did say it went for $250.
