It certainly was. And it was me pointing out that you probably have a bad wireless charger. I never said wireless only was the future
My apologies for misunderstanding and probably miscommunicating. My point is due to the limitations around how much wattage you can push to a phone via wireless charging, its always going to be slower than cable charging. You responded saying it must just be my charger as you get fast charging with wireless charging. However we are talking about two different things. You think wireless charging is fast. I think that SAME wireless charging speed is slow af. It has nothing to do with the charger. All wireless chargers generate heat (in varying amounts) as a by product of the way they charge. Point is they are inefficient and slow. Regardless of how fast you think yours is. My wireless charger is fine by the way. It isn't a problem with the charger. I have several wireless chargers.
Its not the weight, its the bulk. I carry usually a little longer cables due to the challenges sometimes of finding a plug in various hotel rooms. I travel a bit for work and carrying three six foot cables, and several power blocks is a pain in the ass and unnecessary if I could reduce that number.
No I fully understand that wired charging is faster. Much faster in fact. I simply commented that based on your description of slow charging and heat, there is obviously some sort of inefficiency with your charger. So I was blaming the charger.
All converters generate heat, the inefficiency is from trying to transmit power through air versus wires.
help computer so technical issue I am having with my mbp. last night computer froze up and when I restarted I got the flashing ? folder. I restarted again and then worked fine for a bit and froze up again. this morning when I started up I got the flashing ? again and went into recovery mode but does not show an available start up disk. I took my hd and plugged it in as an external and it works fine and starts up with no issue. in the past I had a similar issue with (and replaced the sata cable) but I got the sad face folder when I had that problem. would this be the same issue now or is it potentially something else? everything I am reading from google machine about the flashing ? points to start up disk or disk read issue, but everything works fine when its plugged in as an external.
https://www.macrumors.com/2020/02/22/target-inventory-apple-tv-ipod-touch/ Spoiler Apple TV Gen X, Apple iPod Touch X Generation, and Apple Watch Series X Bands Also Listed in Target Inventory MacRumors Target's inventory system may be leaking details on upcoming Apple products that are set to be released in the near future. A listing for "Airpods (X Generation)" with a price tag of $399 popped up this morning, and there are also apparently new listings for "Apple TV Gen X," "Apple iPod Touch X Generation" and "Apple Watch Series X" bands. Target employees sent images of the listings to 9to5Mac. These are all placeholder names and could be representative of future products, though it's not clear if that's the case. We don't know what these listings are, why they're in Target's system, or if they're accurate, so the information should not be taken as concrete evidence of new devices. The Apple TV Gen X lists a price of $180, the Apple iPod Touch X Generation lists a price of $400, and the Apple Watch Series X band prices are listed at $50. There haven't been rumors of an upgraded iPod Touch, and the iPod touch last saw a refresh in May 2019, so it's not clear if the $399 iPod touch listing is correct. Pricing on the iPod touch starts at $199, and while it does go up to $399, that's for the high capacity model. We are expecting a new low-cost iPhone with a starting price point of $399, so there is a possibility that the iPod touch placeholder is for an iPhone and not an iPod. It could also be for a refreshed 256GB iPod touch, or the price could be wrong entirely since it's a placeholder. We've seen multiple previous hints of a new Apple TV in the works in iOS 13 releases, with the device featuring an upgraded A12 Bionic chip. $179 is the price point of the 32GB 4K Apple TV, so it's possible that this listing is more evidence of the imminent release of a new Apple TV model. The Apple Watch band listings are also easily explainable as Apple refreshes its Apple Watch band offerings on a regular basis, typically with every Apple event. Apple has held events in March for the last few years, and rumors suggest that we're getting a late March event this year, perhaps on March 31st. If there is indeed a March 31st event, we could see some of the products listed in Target's inventory. Rumors have suggested the new low-cost iPhone will be a highlight at the event, and an Apple TV, an updated iPad Pro, and the rumored AirTags are also possible new products that could debut next month.
Are you using the sata cable to plug it in externally? Sounds like a cable issue (hopefully) or a short on the logic board (hopefully not)
I am right now but typically it is just plugged in internal. if it was a logic board issue would it still function normally using it as an external?
I’m not 100% sure but if it’s plugged in externally, i think that’s a different part of the board that detects it. I could be way off.
AirPod people, if you were buying a pair today, would you go with the Pros no questions asked or would you still consider the normal ones?
Even with some fit issues. Definitely pro. Flew again yesterday and wearing in airport and on plane is just magic
I read yesterday that there are rumors of an AirpodX coming out soon. $399 https://hypebeast.com/2020/2/apple-airpods-x-generation-release-rumor-info
I still have my powerbeats that are like 6 years old. Still going strong. I want airpods but I would be so pissed w myself if I lost one. Im in and out of ubers/trains/ busses all the time, and I see people knock them out of their ears taking their messenger bags on and off. Since air pods have come out Ive seen a stray pod on the sidewalk 4 or 5 times. Im terrified of my own recklessness. Im also not a huge audiofile. I just need my headphones to be loud enough to block out the noisy ass city when Im commuting , whether that's walking on or the train.
I'm about a month into ownership, use mine for travel weekly(on and off planes, in and out of rental cars/uber-lyft), and have only ever had one dislodge while at the gym. I've tried to create good habits around them early, in hopes I don't get complacent the longer I have them(and the farther from the front of my mind how much they cost gets), but I could definitely see where regular jostling would knock them loose. Saw a guy on the plane this weekend that had bought (possibly 3rd party?) little in-ear wedges that slides over the pole of each bud, to help hold it in place better. I'm sure you could find similar attachments for an over-the-ear loop.
The uber fees and surcharges implemented at the beginning of this year caught me by surprise when I visited last month. Swear there were like five lines of surcharges.
At least they moved the emoji button from next to the 123 button. I kept hitting that trying to get to the $,#,etc.
So in continuing the AirPod discussion, my wife’s AirPods now last like 20 mins before going dead. Anyone had any luck with Apple replacing them or giving a credit on an upgrade? If not, I saw the original AirPods are like $130 on amazon. Are the pros worth the extra $120?
Well your boy is getting an Apple watch will happily accept and all advice/tips and suggestions as far as apps, accessories, etc.
What are you getting? Thinking about getting one myself and not sure that I care enough about the new stuff to get 5 over 3
Just bought what better be my last charger for my 2011 MBP. It’s probably my 8th or 9th one. Those fuckers are expensive. That plus new RAM and HD- I’ve probably spend as much on that shit over the life of the computer as I paid for it in 2011.
Yes. When my dog was a puppy we got to 3 or 4 of them. It was infuriating. The chargers really dont hold up well to travel , winding, unwinding the cord ect. Over the course of 9 years Ive gone through some. One time, I was pretty careless and my cord got caught in my rolling chair wheel and got completely shredded. We use to be able to expense them, but since I have a new work computer, I cant. It would have been much more than 8, if I didnt get fed up and learn to repair some of them.
