Fair. Are their really shitty high schools to avoid in south Charlotte between 77 and 74 that are in otherwise decent areas? Like I don’t want to buy a house and then realize that East Mecklenburg High was the inspiration for Dangerous Minds.
This isn’t really what you were asking for but something you might want to consider. I just bought a house in the Lake Norman area about 20 minutes north of Charlotte. CMS is a shit show(if you have or plan to have children) and Mecklenburg taxes are very high. The new toll roads make the commute easy. My office is south of Charlotte.
My office is in Ft Mill, SC. It’s 45-50 minutes. I work from home 2-3 days a week. Any time. We should probably interview them first, but I don’t see why not.
Didn't realize you made it over to LKN. That's a bold move living up there and commuting down to Ft Mill. I did south Charlotte to Mooresville for a while before the toll roads and it sucked.
I’m in Iredell. Slightly out 150 towards Salisbury. Lets just open our own Dawg-themed bar. Think we can buy Eddie’s our?
I only come into the office a couple days a week. I gauge the traffic and come in whenever it’s light. the drive home is brutal if I’m not out by 4-415.
nice. Yea I spent roughly 5 hours in there one day with my aunt. She built my uncle “Athens” on a train set his for his 70th birthday. I like that area. I’m looking for property to buy now.
East Iredell is really good for property grabbing right now. We were looking over there before an opportunity popped up that relocated us to Arizona.
yadkinville is a nice drive llama winery is fun. pretty good wine and you get to see a bunch of adorable llamas
Just giving you a hard time. When I first moved to Huntersville my then girlfriend still lived in Raleigh so I wore that 77 north to 40 East path out. Made sure to stop at the sheetz in mocksville every time because it was top tier people watching.
Oh god I could only imagine. Based on the demographics I saw they probably have to keep an army of those motorized wheelchair carts.
ha, my wife is still in Cary. So I’m doing that now it takes me out 150 in Mooresville through China grove to 85 to 40... rarely do I go 77 up to 40.
I don’t think there are really bad schools in South Charlotte. It’s just that CMS is a clusterfuck. We live a half mile south of Meck in Union county. Good schools and cheaper, but not as cheap as SC. We just go to South Park though. Commuting uptown would be a pain.
How would the commute for Ballantye or Matthews to Uptown? 30-45 minutes per way at rush hour? Thinking I might need to be a little north of those areas.
Probably closer to an hour these days during rush hour. I avoid 485 like the plague whenever possible. But traffic is only going down hill so I think we'll all just have to get used to it ...
I feel like I only hear really bad stories for West Meck. Would agree anything on the south side should be mostly fine, just the usual CMS shit. It's funny though, school districts ain't stopping anyone from buying $600k homes in NoDa or the gentrifying parts of the west side. A lot of young families I know look to charters in those cases ...
who's ready for the Meck county lockdown tomorrow? honestly it doesn't sound too different from what myself and friends/acquaintances have been doing already. even though cases seem to be on the rise, i am relatively optimistic, as nearly everyone i know has been taking things seriously for more than a couple weeks already
i see now it's "next July," yeah i tend to think it'll be alright here. i've always felt relatively optimistic about the way the city went about things locally. if we move forward with Phase 2 i'll probably be back at some of the local spots, albeit on the patio with a mask ...
I went to Legal a Remedy last weekend in RH. Setup was pretty solid. Was nice to feel somewhat normal again. Temperatures about to make that impossible as we get into June.
I have to be in Charlotte Dec. 20-22. Only ever been there once before for a short layover. I'm staying in a hotel that's right near (or maybe even inside?) something called the Epicentre. I need a place to get a nice dinner with my girlfriend (within close proximity). Suggestions?
