I’ll be there.
Lol same. Tickets for my birthday.
Moving day is coming (thinking July 1). I’ve been out and scouted the northern suburbs.
Wife, baby, dog. Looking to rent a house for a year, then buy. Work is near WT Harris and 85 (by the Wells Fargo’s and IBM stuff).
Need another round of opinions.
Andy Roddick and Brooklyn Decker are out in Charlotte today. Saw them at discovery place.
Have a flight out at 8PM. What should I do until then?
Maybe the White Water Center right now before the weather turns to shit. Walk the light rail trail and stop at a couple breweries or restaurants that look interesting. Carowinds if you like roller coasters.
Flying to Charlotte for a week for an EPRI conference. Staying at the Hilton at University Place. Any things I need to do or places to eat at in the evenings? Seems there’s some good local breweries in the area.
In your hotel area I’ve been to boardwalk billy’s and the restaurant in your hotel. Both were ok I don’t want go anywhere far options.
Current locals will probably have better breweries, but I liked Catawba and Town brewing. Pinky’s is right by town brewing and was a decent experience.
There’s a #BarAndGrill across the street.
I never go to university area but if you’re willing to travel there’s a ton of good beer and food options near uptown. My favorite breweries are birdsong and legion as they put out the best beer around imo. If you’re more into the atmosphere of the brewery OMB and sycamore are solid options.
For food it really just depends on what you’re looking for but there are some good options all around. Honestly yelp is pretty accurate for the most part so I’d use that and look at places in the South End, Elizabeth, and noda neighborhoods.
Awesome. Thanks so much. I’ll look into Birdsong and Legion for sure.
Also here’s a write up I did a few months ago when I was bored. Very uptown-centric but gives you some ideas.
Sounds like there's gonna be some nasty storms/tornadoes up there this afternoon. Prayers sent.
Calling for it down here too but the worst will be right around Charlotte
Coming up for a concert tomorrow night...is wooden robot worth going out of the way for? Otherwise, we’re just going to hit up Heist.
You eating or just drinking? I haven’t been to Heist in about 3 years but the book on them has always been mediocre beer but good food and atmosphere. I have heard that they swapped head brewers at some point and quality has improved.
Wooden robot by comparison puts out some really solid beer.
Preferably both. Would like to fit in more (really wanted to try Sea Level), but it’s going to be a crunch.
I will say a lot of the restaurants around town have a good selection of local drafts so you’re not necessarily constrained to breweries to get a good local beer. Also re sea level see my comments above about fin & fino. Sea level is pretty good but I’d pick F&F over it every day of the week unless you’re trying to take advantage of the oyster special at sea level.
Owsley i don’t know how far out of the way it would be but i really like wooden robot. loved going there when i was still living in charlotte
The show is at PNC, so I think we’re going to pregame in the NoDa area.
yeah that’s a little bit of a hike from pnc
Heist is sort of the opposite now. Excellent beers, especially hazy IPAs. Food is just OK.
I’ll have to give them another try. They have really poor distribution compared to some of the other breweries in town. Not sure the last time I can recall somewhere having a heist beer on tap.
Yeah, I was told to go there for the hazy IPAs, which are my favorite.
I'm not sure they distribute kegs to be honest. They have a new brewing facility and have gotten much more can distribution from their sites.
I'm coming up Saturday for Vampire Weekend at the uptown ampitheater. Staying uptown somewhere
We we getting Heist kegs and cans all over Greensboro/Winston-Salem. I think their food is just as good as their beer too.
Heist, Resident Culture, and Wooden Robot are my favorites in Charlotte. High Branch is excellent as well but outside the city.
Good to know. Haven’t seen it on tap around here
Was going to this show too. Turns out we cant go anymore. Had really, really good seats too. I’m pretty bummed about it.
I'm not sure i'd even list Heist in my top 10 for beer in Charlotte. What am I missing there? Is there a specific beer you think stands out?
The great state of North Carolina is clutch for my concert needs. Vampire Weekend in CLT this weekend, Lord Huron in AVL next month, and Local Natives in AVL in Sept
Believe in 2018 it was the highest rated beer in NC. I have been to their new tap room quite frequently (called Heist Brewery and Barrel Arts), at least 15 taps and they have something new out every week. It's been a huge addition to the North End area ...
That Uptown Ampitheater setup is clutch. I'd been to a show there before but never pregamed at the bars outside. Loved the experience. Got there a couple hours early and chilled at that VBGB Beer Hall until right before I was ready to go in the concert. They have a bunch of good stuff on draft and the edge of the bar is iced so you can sit your beer there and keep it cold -- never seen that before. Had a drink on the menu to go along with the theme of the night's concert even. Went in the other one across the way with the pizza afterward and it was good too.
It is a fantastic venue. Once I get my Airbnb set everyone can come crash at my place, less than a mile from the Music Factory
Wife and I went to Upstream by South Park for restaurant week.
It was pretty good.
restaurant week is the bee's knees
I feel like Restaurant Week used to be amazing but now it's not a very good deal at most places. Still enjoy it, just less than I used to enjoy it.
Fuck this heat man
Is there a #Carolina Panthers thread?
Considering putting in for a job in Charlotte. Read through this thread a bit and see that I should stay in the south Charlotte area and try to get something above 485 if working in downtown Charlotte. This is super broad, but what should I avoid if at all possible in south Charlotte (neighborhoods, schools, etc)?
Also, what are the best guitar shops in the greater Charlotte area and where are the best bars/locations for local music?
i will convince my parents to sell their house to you
No need. I'll just move in, if that's ok!
lol typical lib living with some parents after college
I'm going to start a new trend of living in other people's parents' basement. I hope your parents like dudes with manbuns!
The plural of manbun should be menbun.
This is super broad. Can't help you
Why live in Charlotte when you can live the sweet life in rock hill for a fraction of cost?
