Played last night and though my score was as bad as normal (99), I was pretty dang pleased with how I was striking the ball. My chipping really let me down and I lost a few balls due to not knowing the course, but the strike was solid and no massive slice. I've got the itch again and want to go play again ASAP.
Anyone heard of course closures? I know some municipals around the country are. A lot of private clubs are going members only and I have heard of a few in LA flat out closing.
It concerns me a little bit. May be overreacting but school is cancelled for 3 weeks. Spring Break trips are all being cancelled. Everyone is working from home and the golf course is the busiest its been all year because no one has anything to do. Members have been physically jarred that I didn't want to shake hands. I have made adjustments where people who work in the golf shop don't overlap, santizing the golf cart steering wheels/seat handles. Not putting pencils and tees in the carts etc.
That last part sounds reasonable and makes sense. It’s supposed to rain a ton here over the next week which will keep people from playing and is likely a good thing. I’ll keep going out there if it’s dry enough, but I’ll likely walk or just practice to limit what all surfaces I’m touching. Heard some older members talking about it last night and partly agree with them in that the club is much less crowded than restaurants and I’m more confident that the staff here is sanitizing like they should instead of a bigger place.
Our club had its busiest day ever Friday. In nearly 100 years. Everyone had planned to have Friday off for Players so they just played gold instead. 230 rounds total. Previous record was 185
Played one of our clubs today and it was packed. Course/restaurant/range everything. Was thinking the old men groups would start canceling their daily tee times.. Nope, most mornings are completely booked this week.
Smart move for private clubs is golf shop is open to answer phone, but members don’t come in the shop and interact face to face. Cart guys can keep distance from members. Most players think they are fine out on the course and they likely are, but the employees are having 100 personal face to face interactions daily isn’t prudent.
Just over $3000 all in. Here’s where I got it: https://rainorshinegolf.com/products/skytrak-practice-golf-simulator-package
I coach hs baseball. Lately college coaches have been telling us how awesome launch monitors are for pitcher development. I'm trying swing a flightscope or something. Will turn our baseball facility into an indoor driving rang3 75% of the year.
Nope. Played 18 today and will continue playing. Don’t have to hit the club house prior to tee and I’m fine walking. if only it will not rain all week.
Played 18 today at beautiful Wekiva Country Club. Course was packed. To the two assholes in black, thank you for making what should have been a four hour round a five hour round.
Just curious but does anyone know what type of contracts processional swing coaches, caddies, etc. are under? If it's % of tournament earnings/winnings, are they just making no money indefinitely? If it's an annual/monthly contract, are pro golfers incurring all their typical expenses with no earnings?
I know a tour caddie and he's making nothing at the moment. I'd guess if this drags on all summer his player will help him out but there are no guarantees
PGA tournaments through May 10th cancelled PGA Championship postponed till later in the year Ryder Cup postponed till 2021
Wow, are they going to just give everyone who had a 2020 Tour card a card in 2021 again? Sounds like there's going to be like 8-10 less events. Same with qualifying for invitationals, etc., sounds like it's going to be very bizarre.
My club just announced it's closing tonight. Have to clean out my locker. Closed at least through April 1st.
My club has closed the pro shop and pub. If you want to golf you just take a cart. If you want food/drink it has to be to go.
Courses are open at my club. Have played everyday this week. Just got an email saying.. they are turning the cup upside down, if it hits the cup it's considered holed. They've pulled all ball washers, coolers and rakes. Weird
Watching the latest Feherty with Gary Woodland and they're talking about this past President's Cup. I already forgot how unreal that was. Crazy come back. P Reed's caddy/bro in law fighting fans. Tiger walking every putt in.
