Trump was asked about whether his call with Putin a few days ago was about gas prices. In his answer, after starting by saying that the call was “probably about that”, he went on to talk about the decrease in gas prices as a good thing, framing it as “the greatest tax cut we’ve ever given”, before almost immediately pivoting and talking about how it would greatly impact “one of our great industries” and how he plans to get with Russia and Saudi Arabia to talk because we don’t want to lose the industry (of course they have been trying to end our industry so not sure why he thinks they will want to do anything to help ours). He went on to say that there’s so much oil that old “dying ships that weren’t doing well” had been rented and were just floating around the ocean filled.
This is what Trumplicans fail to recognize. There is the one immediate risk that covid-19 presents in terms of health, and then there are the countless secondary risks that are attached. And I'm not "just" referring to the economy. Societal breakdown should not be dismissed.
