Half true. We created a medical system in which we grossly overvalue a knee replacement compared to a case of pneumonia. We roughly value spraying warts with liquid nitrogen 2-3 times more than treating a complex patient with 10 medical problems. We value procedures, not hospitalizations. So as procedures dry up, the money goes away. but, we are also stopping clinic spots and surgeries to save PPE, which is also sad that we don’t have enough PPE. so anyways, some orgs are freezing salaries, some are letting staff go, others are cutting pay and hours. Depends on your org. Every single hospital outside of Mayo and maybe Kaiser or maybe a handful of others will need a bailout or be bankrupt in 3-4 months.

In hindsight (and I’m sure logically difficult) they should’ve shutdown all international flights, and quarantined every single person coming into the country in January/February for 14 days. That would’ve stopped this.
In one of the richest countries in the world, shouldn't we expect slideshows showing exactly where all the ppe/vents/masks are going. Where we're doing well, and where we aren't. Where we expect the hotspots to be a day from now, a week from now, a month from now. Not just a constant barrage of lies in something that always feels like a shareholders' meeting.

It’s easy to say birx is lying but I hope she’s right and it isn’t surprising to me. The healthcare system we have is complicated and it’s possible that some doctors don’t know how to navigate it. Maybe they need to just get this figured out and then we can actually test closer to what we should be doing.

And at the grocery store you line up 6 feet apart outside and only 10 people are allowed in at a time. It's like crowded night club where as people leave, people are allowed in.
