I think a lot of people don't read every page because they sometimes participate in other parts of life.
As a land lord.... I empathize in both directions. Mrs Titties and I own a rental house. The tenant reached out to me Monday saying that rent would be hard to make this month. I told her not to sweat it and that we will just figure this out. Please pay me what you can. all of that being said though.... it’s very presumptive and unfair for the land lord to foot the bill here just as much as it’s not your fault for being laid off. I’d just approach the conversation with your landlord calmly and empathetically. It’s tough for everyone right now and we are all figuring it out. If you can’t pay rent for the next 3 months... do you feel that it should be free to you or will you pay back overdue rent to your landlord at a later date? Will you use the stimulus check to pay rent owed to your landlord?
You don’t think I have a life? Sometimes I walk to the kitchen, other times I’ll go out of my deck. I do a lot.
Maybe realize that some people are going to not have any income if they pay the rent in full and offer them a steep discount otherwise you're going to come out looking really awful in this situation. People are forced to rent, you generally aren't forced to own a property that you aren't selling so you can collect income.
Part of it is Trump being a yellow-bellied coward who shirks responsibility and honor. The other part is he likes inflicting pain on people.
Can we just move every Trump supporters to an island until they learn how to act? I feel like I read this somewhere once. https://nypost.com/2020/04/01/antho...9tHjpD1Fr3YB32koY5ElT_jihbDr4gjJLq-miAgfoaVZA
my folks have a place on lake marion. always figured it’d be a good spot to hunker down but that’s out the window. wyboo finna get ravaged
My parents live in a populated suburb but it’s still 4~ miles to the closest grocery store, and they don’t even live in a food desert.
Oh yeah I’m sure they are going to find a way to put players from 30 teams in hotels and have them play and test them every day for the coronavirus. Definitely a realistic possibility that definitely might happen
Premier league was talking about it as well. Tons of issues obviously but also tons of money riding on making it happen.
My wife was planning on taking the kids to walk at a local metropark with miles of trails today, and my mom was going to join them at an acceptable social distance. I was going to shut it down, but before I had to be the bad guy they both watched Gov. Whitmer give a press conference where she closed Michigan schools for the rest of the school year and implored everybody to stay at home unless it was absolutely essential. My mom and my wife both decided to postpone walking at the park indefinitely. It is amazing what intelligence, concise, proactive leadership can do to get people to be safe. It is too bad that the minority elected president of the United States is a total crapbag.
the city asked my employer to cut off swipe access to buildings for all but like 3-4 people within our department because they are trying to limit the number of people on campuses. Sounds like people have been taking advantage of colleges being designated essential businesses
who should be responsible here though? I hear you and am not saying you’re wrong... but what is the right thing here? The only control I have of any tenant situation is my ability to evict. You fuck my house up, you don’t pay, etc.... well I have the right to go find a tenant who will pay and will take care of my property. all being said... I’m more than happy to do my part and help my tenants right now. I’m fortunate that my career has not been impacted and can certainly understand the situation. I’m not demanding they pay rent in full or else but to work with me as much as I am working with them. All said and done... do you owe back rent as you normally would? Say you go for 6 months unemployed... what is the right thing? Is it on you to seek ancillary employment to make money or take the furlough approach?
When did I assume the landlord should foot the bill? I emailed the landlord and asked if we could discuss a reduction so we could remain in good standing. They responded that we are expected to pay in full. Sorry I’m not more sympathetic to a landlord who owns 21 buildings across NYC and isn’t having to pay their mortgage right now. *I’ve also lived in the same apartment for 4.5 years and we’ve never had a late/missed payment
No one is saying you shouldn't be able to seek rent dude, just don't come here looking for sympathy when there are people who have it much much worse off than you if you're able to own a property and literally rent it.
