Currently looking for new jobs. My kid will be born in 4 weeks max so I’m taking off for that and not sure if I’ll come back. Biggest thing is I wish they’d just lay me off so at least could get unemployment. That’s another thing that sucks is to de-stress I’ve been drinking more and I’ve had problems with that in the past but it’s the only thing that lets me unwind. It’s not as bad as it was or anything but that is always there in the back of my mind. It’s wrecking hell on my family though. Luckily my wife is working from home but we just have to be careful. I mentioned it but even if they allow them back in the office after July she won’t be allowed back because I’m such a high risk of catching it and her bringing it in. It’s great to work for a company that doesn’t care about you, your family or your unborn child’s health and safety so long as you’re here on time and be seen. Fucking boomers.
As I work in biotechnology/life sciences our company thankfully has taken this situation very seriously. All employees who can have been working from home since the first week of March. At this point, I expect the vast majority of us to continue working from home until August/September. We have strict guidelines for returning to work, and even then, employees will return in phases to a workplace that’ll be vastly different on account of the new realities of the world we are living in. Daily testing of some nature will be required, desks are going be further spaced with physical dividers, walkways are going to be organized for one way traffic, and it’s highly likely a portion of our workforce is permanently shifted to a flex work situation where they no longer have a physical desk at the office and instead will work from home most days of the week. We are fortunate. All workplaces should implement some measures of this nature. Sadly they won’t.
Good news about the economy will dominate the speaking points from Dear Leader and his gang of WH fuckalongs for the next 6 months. Picture Princess Lea telling the Economy, “You’re my only hope!”
If it puts your mind at ease at all, unless you or your wife is immunocompromised, you probably aren't in very much danger. Same goes for your baby. Going to have to resist the urge from the grandparents to come see their grandkid though.
It’s part of the game plan. Those grizzly numbers which he said “are fake news created by the media and the Dems to hurt me” will now be repeatedly thrown at us as the true measuring stick.
This had not occurred to me. Geez. I saw a thing from a Harvard public health authority this morning. He projected that this summer might slow down spread by 20% at most. He said too much of the population still hasn’t been exposed for hot weather to have more of an impact.
University of Akron to close 6 of 11 colleges. Reduce athletics budget by 20% https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.cl...ntly-reduce-athletic-programs/?outputType=amp
Lots of college aren't going to survive this. State budgets are going to be fucked next year without significant federal assistance.
This is the crux of the argument, right? "unnecessary" deaths are inevitable. Drawing a line in the sand and determine that my level of acceptable deaths is better than yours, then declaring, based on that, that you just don't care about people dying, is a disingenuous position to take. Of course there are morons like the people protesting, that all sane people agree are going too far . But to say anyone who want to re-open, slowly, in a controlled way just doesn't care about people dying reeks of virtue signalling.
Need that meme of the guy looking at the 2 buttons to press - defend the 2nd amendment, defend police Though Hannity acknowledged that those brandishing weapons were well within their rights, the storming of the statehouse was too much. “No one is a bigger defender of the Second Amendment than yours truly. Everyone has the right to protest, protect themselves and try to get the country open. This, with the militia-look here and these long guns, uhhh, no,” Hannity said. “Show of force is dangerous. That puts our police at risk, and by the way, your message will never be heard, whoever you people are. No one should be attempting to intimidate officials with a show of force, and God forbid something happens, then they’re going to go after all of us law abiding Second Amendment people.” After making his original statements against the armed protesters, Hannity was joined by frequent Fox News contributor Dan Bongino, who made a familiar argument, and the two quickly butted heads. “It’s the liberal media’s efforts to paint the people there as some kind of, like, ya know, crazed bunch of lunatics more than it is the people they’re actually trying to represent, that they have rights, too,” Bongino argued. “They could do concealed carry, Dan, if they’re worried about their safety,” Hannity replied. “This is to intimidate.”
They have been short on N95 masks for at least 6 weeks in Illinois. Doctors are using dirty ones until they break
Re-open, slowly, in a controlled way once it’s safe and practical to do so. It’s still not because we don’t have PPE or tests. time to reopen!
it’d be terrifying to know how many people truly have it the amount of asymptomatic cases popping up out of nowhere is insane
it seems rather unsafe for someone to simply say hey you aren’t immuncompromised so you are in pretty much no danger.
lmfao the ceo of my company just sent us a video message telling the younger less tenured employees they have to go back into the office next monday he referenced numbers in sweden and said the numbers here dramatized i’m gonna kms after watching that
roughly 700 with offices in 9 locations across the us no one would care in texas, would have to be one of the guys in my pa office
The thing about the repoenings, especially in Georgia, is that things really haven't gotten any better. Someone is arbitrarily saying "ok that's enough."
i scheduled a call with the ceo and my boss today might not make it through the end of the day but fuck this
that's what gets me for all of the "we should open but do so with guidelines so people can xyz..." people. They are completely ignoring our society is really fucking stupid and there will not be a collective attempt to do anything "safely"
My wife's company is aiming for next week but they haven't mentioned bringing her back full time. Thankfully she has an office and can keep her door closed to people but if they try and bring her back in the office without putting her back at full pay im going to push for her to look elsewhere.
by “people of our country” he means the working class. CEOs, the president, billionaires and their friends will stay in their safe spaces watching their net worth and our death total increase with 0 fucks given.
this was in five points yesterday at one of the popular bars. these kids are going to be devastated when the fourth wave cancels football season.
outdoor ‘dining’ at a popular bar. they have a large patio area that’s popular with the golden doodle demo
The idea is the amount of people that currently have it, or have had it, is MUCH higher than what has been reported. Because most people are largely unaffected by the virus. Which is why the vast majority of posters on this site shouldn't be terrified of going to Waffle House.
the explanation I'm hearing from Dr Acton in Ohio is that because we have more tests we can reopen some. more testing will give us a more complete picture of the amount of community spread. That's the theory, I guess. I'd imagine they've taken PPE availability into consideration as well. There is a company from Columbus that developed a way to clean N95 masks, and I know that's been used throughout Ohio as well as a few other states.
