On CNN, he said that large increases in mobility have them concerned. They've been pretty optimistic/forgiving in their previous expectations.
You believe that testing will be cut in Dallas altogether? Yikes. LA County banning sunbathing at the beach. Pritzker banning more than 2 people on a boat.
That’s what someone posted. You take issue with it, take it up with them. Also, go fuck your own face.
I know the sun doesn’t kill this but do we not think the warm weather somehow decreases spread? Not eliminates but decreases? Florida’s cases really have been low and when had a large influx of New Yorkers come down here. Even if some of the numbers are cooked, we have low population density and no public transportation, it seems low. Maybe it has some impact? 5%? 10% less? Would still have a big impact.

150k will be a success in a week. 250k in 3 months. 2.2 million if he did nothing so he’ll say he saved 2 million people. Tyrant propaganda 101
Florida is openly cooking the books IMO, almost China level. That said, communicable diseases spread less because people spend less time inside/in less proximity to other people in warmer weather. But yeah, I don’t trust anything coming out of Florida at all.
haven't seen anything good or concrete but evidence points to yes still think most chalk much of it up to changes in behavior in summer vs winter
I think this shows that. Or am I reading this completely wrong? https://dph.georgia.gov/covid-19-daily-status-report https://pbs.twimg.com/media/EX0R6apXsAAQzhV?format=png&name=small
Florida is 100% cooking the books but there is absolutely no way a state could cook the books like China can. Not even close. There would be 10 whistleblowers before it got close to that bad. I wouldn’t be surprised if they are missing 1000-1500 deaths based on an interpretation of cause of death/delay in reporting though. When medical examiners were releasing the numbers before they Were ordered stopped about a month ago their numbers were about 10% higher.
I'm not convinced our numbers are any more legitimate than China's. That seems like an easy narrative to fall back on but look at our weekly deaths over the average compared to how many covid deaths we're actually reporting.
There’s some assbag in a local FB group touting that everything is getting better because the % of cases vs tests is dropping. He doesn’t get that really doesn’t matter.
Is it true there were 600,000 tests today in America? If so that is a really big jump. Still not close to where we were projected to need to be by 5/15, but a lot closer than the old rolling average which was around 260,000
if you're looking to avoid dumb asses, FB is not the place to be. The actual good news is that hospitalizations are down
Exclusive: U.S. airlines tell crews not to force passengers to wear masks (Reuters) - The top three U.S. airlines have told their flight attendants not to force passengers to comply with their new policy requiring face coverings, just encourage them to do so, according to employee policies reviewed by Reuters. American Airlines Group Inc (O:AAL), Delta Air Lines Inc (N:DAL) and United Airlines Holdings Inc (O:UAL) have told employees that they may deny boarding at the gate to anyone not wearing a face covering, and are providing masks to passengers who do not have them, the three carriers told Reuters. Inside the plane, enforcement becomes more difficult. "Once on board and off the gate, the face covering policy becomes more lenient. The flight attendant's role is informational, not enforcement, with respect to the face covering policy," American told its pilots in a message seen by Reuters explaining its policy, which went into effect on Monday. "Bottom line to the pilots: a passenger on board your aircraft who is being compliant with the exception of wearing a face covering is NOT considered disruptive enough to trigger a Threat Level 1 response," referring to some kind of intentional disruption by a passenger that could cause the captain to divert the flight. American spokesman Joshua Freed said: "American, like other U.S. airlines, requires customers to wear a face covering while on board, and this requirement is enforced at the gate while boarding. We also remind customers with announcements both during boarding and at departure." A United spokeswoman also said that any non-compliance by travelers would be addressed at the gate and that flight attendants had been counseled to use their "de-escalation skills" on the aircraft and to reseat any passengers as needed. Delta said it had a similar policy. 'ENCOURAGE THEM TO COMPLY' All three airlines offer certain exemptions for young children or people with medical conditions or disabilities, and when people are eating or drinking. "If the customer chooses not to comply for other reasons, please encourage them to comply, but do not escalate further," American told flight attendants in a message on Friday that it provided to Reuters. "Likewise, if a customer is frustrated by another customer’s lack of face covering, please use situational awareness to de-escalate the situation," it said. U.S. travel demand has fallen by about 94% in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic, prompting carriers to slash their flying schedules to roughly 30% of normal this month. With fewer planes in the skies, some are flying near capacity. Global airlines body IATA came out last week in favor of passengers wearing masks onboard, as debate intensifies in the United States on the role that government agencies should play in mandating new safety measures for flying before a vaccine is developed. While major U.S. airlines have individually mandated facial coverings, the Federal Aviation Administration has declined to implement the requirement, and it is not clear if the agency has the authority to compel passengers to wear face masks. In a statement on Tuesday, the FAA said it would continue to engage in discussions about protecting the health and safety of flight crews and the traveling public and was "lending aviation expertise to federal public health agencies and airlines as they issue guidance for crew members, including health monitoring, screening protocols and aircraft cleaning." Several airline union groups have called for a federal mandate on measures including masks, social distancing and cleaning. "Airlines are implementing policies on the fly with essentially no coordination or direction from the federal government," said Sara Nelson, president of the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA, representing nearly 50,000 flight attendants at 19 airlines. "We need federal requirements that mitigate risk during this pandemic and put the safety of crews and the traveling public first."
Yeah it's crazy how much it is still spreading. IL as an example has basically been shutdown since mid-march and has been one of the more strict states when it comes to shelter in place/ mask wearing and is still seeing huge increases in numbers and the peak has been pushed to June. I just can't fathom how this thing is still spreading 60 days into staying at home. Really makes you think we should have adopted a much more strict quarantine but instead we are 60days+ into it and very little progress
I need to go to Long Island and Mass for a week each for work. Thinking that if/when I’m approved, I’ll drive instead of fly.
that’s great, i hope it stays like that, even though that number is awful too i’m just extremely pessimistic for obvious reasons
Whenever any dipshit brings up the “hurr durr they predicted 2.2 million deaths” just start asking questions. Ask who is they? And then ask if they read the report. Hint: they haven’t. Because when you actually read it (it’s only 20 pages with plenty of blank space and pictures...takes about 20 minutes) it’s painfully obvious how absurd that claim is.
deaths now are from before states opened. Cases trail exposure by 1-2 weeks depending on the state and severity. Deaths trail exposure By 3-4 weeks. Maybe longer depending on when states report the deaths. I don’t think we will see what happened for states that have reopened form a death perspective until the last week of May.
I’m probably not continuing the conversation at that point. If someone is that far up trumps ass, you are wasting breath.
I know you guys are crushed but looks like we did even better than I thought today. Worried it’s going to go back up in a few weeks though now that a lot of states have basically said fuck it. The numbers in the northeast have been terrible per 1M residents, far outpacing places like Spain and Italy. I’m hoping nowhere else gets to those levels
the airlines might not enforce it but if some piece of shit was sitting next to me and not wearing one it’d take everything in me not to force one on them
