Every time I think about people spending big bucks on prospect cards it makes me think of this scene. Rather than spend money on an already proven, good MLB player people still want to speculate on 18-20 year olds.
Andy Reocho I decided to rip open a box this AM. Got both of these. Zion green refractor rookie and Ja standard rookie. Spoiler Spoiler
I disagree. Kids aren’t chasing the gold parallel of prospect X. That’s all adults. Kids can still buy plenty of topps varieties to collect(heritage, series 1, Gypsy Queen)
Speaking for myself, hobby box prices when I was a kid were crazy, and I lived in a town with like 3 card shops lol
But all those sets you mentioned are baseball. Basketball is currently the most popular sport with kids and I haven't seen a box on any shelve at any store I've been to because adults buying them all looking for rookies
Yeah I was super excited to get both. Sell these + 1 box and I come out even financially and get to open the other 6 boxes.
That’s fair. Personally I attribute most of that to demand and these card companies got exclusive rights unlike the old days.
And its honestly better, things got out of hand and all cards basically became worthless. Just maybe they should make a junk set for basketball for kids. But even with less companies again, the number of cards is still pretty crazy especially companies trying to cash in on rookie cards. I was looking at getting Acuna rookies to collect because I think he has a chance to be the next big thing (basically is almost there). And just from topps, there are over 10 cards with the RC logo on it. His topps card, his topps image variation card, his topps card with holiday design on it, his topps card from complete set where RC logo is on other side of card, his chrome card, his 2 image vatiation chrome cards, all his topps now cards from year, his flashback insert cards (at least two), his heritage rookie, his Bowman 1st card, his bowman 1st chrome card and all the refractors and color variations, his Bowman rookie card (seperate than first bowman). And those are just the ones I remember seeing.
Donruss and Hoops are the two base level and I haven’t seen any of those at Walmart/target in MONTHS. And I agree, long run it’s mostly a good thing, but damnit I’d love for Panini to get baseball rights because Optic is beautiful.
Panini makes some great baseball cards too (mostly their high end stuff), but I just cant get into cards where the teams logo are removed from the card. Just doesn't look good to me.
Hey guys, without boring you with the detailsIdetails, covid19 has hit me fairly hard financially and I'm looking to maybe sell some old cards I've had since I was a kid. I figured if any of them might be worth something, I'd send them off to get graded. But I don't fully know where to begin. Are there any free sites that I can look up prices on? Is eBay the best bet for selling them? Any advice you can offer a novice, I'd appreciate it.
Always, always grade a card if you think it is a 9 or better. I think Mosaic is a pretty easy set to grade so as long as there aren't any noticeable dings a 9 or 10 seems pretty attainable.
Ive mainly just got Jordan cards. I didn't collect much outside of that. I doubt most are worth anything. A bunch of them are from a box set. Almost wonder if I'd be better off trying to sell them as a lot and just be done with it. Here they are, if anyone would like to take a look:
Honestly not sure. It looks like the Topps finest (1st pic, bottom row, middle card) is going for around $100 currently, as is the ud3 card (2nd pic, bottom row, middle card). So adding in all the other ones together I'd probably let them go for around $300 or so.
If I'm selling to someone here, I'll let it go for $275 and I'll take care of shipping. Just too avoid having to deal with eBay.
Anyone been buying any of the Project 2020? I'm wishing I was around to buy 1-50 because they're going to be valuable as hell. Think I'm going to be snagging certain artists and then random ones I like. Today's Clemente is fiiirree
I'll be buying all the Griffey's as he's my favorite. I just wish I'd have been paying attention to buy the Saladeen Griffey and the ermsy Trout
Probably paid 2 much but I got 2 spots in the 10 caser including skubal in bcp and autos. Kind of upset I missed out on Witt bu stuff Is insane at the moment . Hopefully I hit some color
The Bowman checklist dropped. Pretty nice https://www.blowoutcards.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/2020-Bowman-Checklist.pdf
I just wish I could get the Saladeen Griffey. That’s the only one I legit hate I missed. Financially I hate missing the ermsy trout
Anyone use PSA to authenticate autographs or use their quick opinion? When I was in HS I wrote letters to players in mail for autographs and kind of forgot about it. Most hand signed cards aren't worth much now anyway, but I was going through them and found that I have a Tom Brady signed card. I would have sent it in the mail probably 2002 or 2003, its a 2002 card. It looks pretty legit to my untrained eye. Looks like I could get $30-50 as is on ebay with no authentication. But ones even with a quick opinion sell for $80 up to 200 and if I got it fully verified and stabbed I'm sure it could get that easy. Thinking of just doing a sham auction on eBay with it, ask like $500 and then pay $10 to get a quick opinion on it before fully spending the $20 to get it verified completely and stabbed.
Anyone ever buy those mystery boxes of cards or graded cards from Pristine Auction? Curious if those are worthwhile I've noticed ever since the stay at home orders, the auctions are going for higher because everyone is online shopping and stuff. I'm assuming that's why.
Search the set on YouTube and I'm sure you can find people opening boxes of them. It will give you a flavor of what to expect
broke down and decided to rip my mosaic mega box, pulled 2 zion base rookies, and a blue reactive Zion. Then thought fuck it I rip my 2020 panini prize draft picks and scored a orange pulsar auto of Jonathan Taylor. Not a bad call to keep over sell.
Reminds me of falling for the mystery grab bags on Ebay when I was like 12-13 years old. Chance at a Jordan RC or some other ridiculous cards. Usually ended up with a bunch worthless insert cards. Bill Mueller Refractor, cool.
