I was speaking to the presumption that something must be intrinsically wrong with a Hispanic working in CBP for the very response you had, because “what kind of Hispanic works for an organization that targets Hispanics?” And then when any sort of response is formulated, ...this is what is said. My point is, are the Canadians crossing the northern border being targeted by CBP when they cross? What if I said that 95+ percent of arrests at ports of entry along the southern border were of Hispanic origin? I suppose that’s targeting? Overall, CBP does its best to ensure that people coming into the US have the paperwork authorizing their travel and/or stay, and they also attempt to prevent the flow of drugs from entering. To think that CBP targets Hispanics or vulnerable immigrants is sliiiightly asinine.
A lot of travelers along both borders of the US. A lot of employees within CBP. I agree wholeheartedly with the ACLU tweet at the end stating that speaking Spanish is not a reason for being detained. That agent should probably have some more training in professionalism as well as understanding the differences between officers at ports of entry and agents at checkpoints, and the authorizations each have. I was never trained to target Hispanics for any crimes. We were taught trends, certain techniques for interviewing, and how to recognize the indicators of concealment on people and vehicles. That agent in that article was clearly wrong.
Profiling is never a formal part of training, it’s learned on the job as a part of the culture. It’s the “how my job is actually done” part of learning your job. In most jobs, that phase is just learning office politics. In law enforcement, it’s racial profiling.
Those garages aren’t open to the public so it was very likely an inside job, either someone from NASCAR, another team, or someone from the track.
Might be different now with Covid but they are normally very much open to the public. Thousands of people in the garages on race days. Sponsors have tons of passes to give out.
It wasn’t open at the time according to what I have read from people who know a lot more about that sport than I do, which is next to nothing.

I have never experienced an instance in which CBP has targeted vulnerable immigrants, and I was not taught to do so at the border through my training. But you are free to think of me as you wish, but don’t presume to know things from your skewed vantage point

I’ve found that people who refer to themselves as “Hispanic” believe one way and those that call themselves Latino/a now LatinX believe differently. I tend to agree more with the LatinX people because they generally are more liberal more progressive whereas “Hispanics” are more like what you appear to be. Yes. Poor whites on "disability" look down on people on welfare and other programs. Look up the disability stats across the country. Waaaaaay high in red states. But they spin that there's is legit and people in other programs are just lazy.
This came up during McConnells blue welfare state comment. 9 of the top 11 social program states are red, even worse if you do it by capita.

Things aren’t as simple as branding someone a republican or Democrat. I’ve seen you and people on the left as well as people on the right place people in a category and keep them there. It’s easier for you. I actually use the term EWI, which is entry without inspection (when referring to someone’s manner of entry), and the term inadmissible. I don’t know that I’ve ever used the term illegal aliens, but feel free to search my post history and correct me if you like. If people want to call me LatinX, cisgender, Hispanic, I don’t mind. It’s not as though that’s my name and that’s what they would call me anyway. They’d call me by my first or last name, or when they forget my name they can say “hey...man”. I’m glad that you and others have been willing to have conversations with me, I just tend to think that the presumption that I am what you know every other person you disagree with is is an attempt to make an inaccurate categorization.
Sir I do think you are trying to offend my delicate sensibilities. Along the border with Mexico most everything is Hispanic. In the town that I worked with CBP there was probably a 90+ percent Hispanic population. Most jobs were done by Hispanics. Most of the police department and the port of entry. Most crimes were committed by Hispanics. Most of the students in college and most of the nurses were Hispanic. The presumption that those in CBP are unable to understand the correlation between crimes committed and population on the southern border is a bit out there. Maybe some officers are like that, I’m sure there are, but I’ve never had to deal with them past the probationary period.

Out of about 45 supervisors, 10 chiefs, 5 assistant port directors and 2 port directors, at two ports of entry that I worked at, a handful of supervisors were not Hispanic, 1 chief was not Hispanic, and that’s it. Or were you referring to DC when the goal post was moved?
Where did I assert that again? I would hope that they did considering their job, but I don’t have the statistics to counter your “gotcha” attempt.
It's not a gotcha when it's fact that the CBP cares far more about stopping POC from crossing the border compared to the vastly large white populous to the North. The American/Canadian border is the longest unprotected border in the world, and surprisingly Dear Leader hasn't done anything to protect that border. Weird.
