But barstool clearly has an optics issue re: race and buddying up to white supremacy. Sad thing is that aggrieved pissy white dude demo is pretty lucrative. they might not get the access they had but clearly they’re legitimized
Lol dans just sad no one asked his thoughts. He has no principled stance either way. He’s been complicit in their march to turning point. The right wing grift pays well, so I get Dave wanting to go on tucker/“interview” Donny. Candace Owens, Charlie Kirk, clay Travis, etc. all make good money by appealing to white dudes. Along with Tyler leaving, this will unfortunately end my consumption of barstool content.
I can’t imagine being stupid enough to care about any barstool content that doesn’t involve PFT Or Dan tbh
Dan got that text message reminding him that he doesn’t get to allow people to think he’d ever leave, lest companies start pulling ad dollars. which only makes his point more valid.
Lol I follow big cat and PFT and I’m so much smarter than all you dumbasses that like other things lol idiots
I don’t really have a problem with a puff piece interview since it’s not a journalistic enterprise and there was no way Portnoy would ask hard questions for Trump, a person who he most likely admires. I’m just glad everyone is showing their hands. Barstool is an alt-right owned entity. It will always have dissenting employees as token moderating forces but they are who we thought they were.
Acting morally superior and smarter because you consume some barstool content but not all of it is hilarious
Most activity in this thread maybe ever this morning. Everyone talking about the interview. also, this board is like 99% liberal at this point and not representative of the country or barstool fans so keep that in mind
Someone on Twitter, they posted the YouTube clip. I haven’t watched it but it doesn’t seem to be a puff piece at all.
Erika isn’t above this. She’s another masshole who loves jumping in the mud just like Dave. The only positive out of all this is knowing that cuck, tray clavis, must be fuming he didn’t get the interview.
this board due to its makeup is much closer to barstools demographics than the country at large and why i find the barstool machinations interesting, it's like if TMB was a reality show/media outlet just lagging behind a few years in the cultural shift
yeah that's kind of why this is a dumb idea. it doesnt expand the base in the slightest and if anything it contracts it and people posting itt about how they arent going to consume barstool content and thus meaning more traffic itt isnt a good argument for why this is good for clicks long term
People drawing the line at pres interviewing the president in the White House but not for like 500 things before this for sure
in recent years it seems they've tried to broaden the brand, bring in more different types of people/types of content, but the top down leaderships default is to nurture the base first even if it causes the former to lag or fray and in part why critics point out when the company was built on X trying to pretend that core isn't still there by turning off the comments or pretending it's in the past is silly when they're catered to by the most high profile employees
I agree. This will be a breaking point for a portion of the “only Big Cat/PFT/Everybody but Dave” people and be the starting point for pro-Trumpers that weren’t already fans, but I think it’s a small faction of both sides.
I understand that Dan is a super likeable guy but his being far more upset about not getting to share his 2 cents rather than his company openly being used to tacitly endorse a shitty politician isn’t great
I certainly think he's morphed into the character he once played. We shouldn't be surprised, and obviously you are not. He hasn't made it a secret he's 100% about the money. But as the money has come, he's let himself become the caricature.
Hypothetically say Big Cat left and PFT soon followed. Where do y'all think they would they go? Would they try to join a larger company or just become their own entity? I could see a nice Spotify deal for them At the same time I wonder about the rights to PMT. Does Barstool own it and wouldn't let it go similar to CHD? I have to imagine Big Cat was smart enough to prepare for something like that
Big cat thinking Dave apologized because he meant it and not just to keep his most important employee happy is sad
Barstool own PMT IP. I would think they would try to go/do a deal that lets them have the freedom barstool gives them. it will be hard for barstool to collapse/not be able to hire people because they give a huge platform to people at an entry level. People will always jump at that. Why dick around espn for 15 years when you can do your own show year 2 at a company?
