My buddy just sent some texts to Roger, Pulido, and a couple staff members to see if anyone knows anything about the confirmed case.
No one would say who was positive. Generic response was: “yes, it’s true. He’s been isolated since the first positive result but trained with the team before that. Everyone else will be tested daily till we leave and the team will be isolated.” One person didn’t respond, Roger. Which is rare because they’re really close friends. He also said Roger had a Snapchat yesterday morning on a balcony waving to Pulido on another balcony. He went to check last night if he put anything about training and Roger deleted his original story. No confirmation but where there’s smoke.
FTR, Aly Trost is saying it’s not Roger (which would be great especially with Ilie picking up a knock) but I don’t trust her.

Did a film study yesterday. Left feeling better about the result than I initially did. Col strapped down our spine in the attack. Acosta marked Gadi 24/7 and Price marked Alan. Many times it was a back 4, with Price on one of Alan’s shoulders and Abubakar on the other. That means Shelton/Johnny/Roger should have ample space. Unfortunately we kept trying to build through that middle in the first half. In the 2nd we adjusted and attacked on the wings. Johnny/Gerso and Martins caused havoc and Zeus/Shelton did the same. Once we adjusted we were fine. PV needs to get his subs in check though. No excuse not using all 5 and using them earlier. Sucks so bad not having Feli. Still think we need Rog to drop deep and Busio/Gadi as duel 8s ahead of him.
Rewatching the match (won’t make it all the way through tonight) because I was in and out watching it in the lobby this morning. Some notes. Pulido is everything and more. Leads the league in G+A. I remember in 18 when Shelton was dominating but could never finish a reporter asked PV if he would like a striker that did the work of KS but finished his chances, Vermes said, that’s Luis Suarez, we aren’t signing Suarez, sorry. My man Alan though, he’s got that technical ability in the 18 but he tracks back so much and has BY FAR the beat hold up play in the league. He’s beyond my wildest expectations. Legit Landon Donovan award candidates. Martins is legit insane. His service is so good. Johnny was able to run for a half. Looked much better. Died around the 60th, got to get him out of his Covid #dadbod. Wish we could get the opta data on Busio. He covered a lot of ground this first half. Fell off in the second but he does so much off the ball. Disappointed with him overall but don’t hate his performance.
Rewatching the second half from Wednesday. Really happy to see Hernandez get minutes and look so good. I hardly ever watch Swope but every time I did he always flashed. Found it odd Vermes never brought his name up until they added him to the first team last year.
Shelton is the ultimate force amplifier. His work rate is unmatched. Gerso/John cover 1/4 of his ground. There was a reason we subbed Martins at half. Without coverage he was completely lost.
I dunno, I struggle to say that the issue with last night was down to Shelton not playing. Our CM did nothing in the first half(Kinda was awesome in the second IMO), Salloi is worthless now, and neither fullback wanted to put in a decent cross.
Doyle breaks it down here. You can’t play Zusi and Martins at fullback without someone willing to cover them for 90 minutes. Johnny is a lot better at it than he gets credit for, Gerso also puts in the work. Daniel was fine when Seth was behind him and never ventured forward so all he had to think about was combine with the center or cut inside and try to curl it to the back post. Khiry tracks this runner, cuts off that pass, and starts a lazy build up the opposite way. He wouldn’t of stopped the 2 goals off our set pieces. The only other time Vermes has let that happen was Yohan’s first year when he was the safety valve and whiffed on a clearance. If we had Feli in there instead of either Ilie or Gian neither would of happened. If the season continues we have to find a new enforcer in the MF because Rog’s legs can’t do it all anymore.
My only point was I don’t think us not having Shelton was the reason the goals happened. He’s clearly very important to the squad’s overall success.
