Picking up a series 6 watch tomorrow with cellular. First watch. Sticking with the iPhone8 for a while longer.
I have a 6s and it has had a shattered screen for over a year now. I think it's time to make the upgrade.
Cracked screen. Battery lasts all of two hours. Constantly walking around with a portable charger. Charging port barely works, which makes it even harder. Also, I got it while I was in Japan because my previous 6S had broken while backpacking there. You're unable to silence the camera shutter sound on any phone issued Japan. That's been miserable.
I have withstood the cracked screen and battery issues, but this would have snapped me. I'd have upgraded long ago.
Looks like you’re going to be between a 5 and 6 size wise. Its an hour apparently which in the grand scheme of things shouldn't be much of a big deal. Additionally in browsing the Reddits, an idea was proposed to leverage the MagSafe connection to create an iphone shaped battery which leverages the magnet to attach and charge. It could be shaped to add only a few mm of depth to the phone and give it a half a charge or something which you could barely feel when placed in your pocket.
For those who aren't aware, you can "Prep" your pre-order by downloading the Apple Store App and setting up your pre-order. You can even add a siri shortcut to complete your pre-order on Friday. You enter your CC information and pick your phone and on Friday, everything is ready. It will do a hard credit pull if you are financing the phone through the monthly payments.
https://www.cnbc.com/2020/10/14/apple-fails-to-market-the-iphone-12-pro-to-the-average-consumer.html I thought this was interesting. I have an 11 Pro Max but I'm getting the 12 this time around. Easy choice as I don't take enough pictures to warrant the additional cost.
Any ideas on when third party cases and screen protectors will start popping up? $50 for a case from Apple seems a bit ridiculous.
so it appears my time capsule finally died after about 10 years. I know they dont make them any longer, so whats the next best option as an automatic backup system? just buy an external hd that can back up on wifi or is there something else out there?
What is the best approach to ordering a new 12/mini? I'm with Verizon and have a cracked 6S with zero trade in value. Do I go through Apple's site? Verizon? Would some place like Best Buy have a better deal?
Have the 11 Pro Max & am enrolled in Apple’s upgrade plan - can’t decide if it’s worth it to upgrade to the 12 Pro Max or just stay put
We are same except I have the Verizon upgrade plan. I sorta decided to stay put but I’m still mulling things over. Have had no issues with my Pro Max and just got a couple new cases last month. On the other hand, my monthly payment won’t change at all if I do upgrade.
i haven’t had any issues with mine either, and my payment would stay the same too...at least since I’d for sure get the 12 Pro Max, I have until early next month to decide since that pre-order is pushed back
The more scratch resistant, the more shatter prone. I think Apple has backed off the glass hardness a bit over the last couple of iPhone iterations.
I use Backblaze for a cloud backup service. I haven’t had to use them for a crash recovery yet, but so far no complaints. Pretty good offering for the price: unlimited sized backup of your computer as long as all the drives you’re backing up are physically connected for like $5-6 a month I think.
Good screen protectors don’t cost much if you shop around Amazon and many of them offer lifetime warranties.
I think you can do it now. The reminder only works for the 12 or Pro as the mini and Pro Max don't come out until November.
So is anyone looking at preordering through a provider? It seems TMobile is offering a $415 credit if you sign up for a contract through them. ATT is offering up to $800 for a credit if you switch to them with a trade in with contract. My wife has ATT and considering merging to join the plans. I was all set to order through Apple but am now questioning myself if I can get a bigger credit through a provider.
If you’re switching definitely go through the carrier. You’ll get the same deal plus their new line promos.
So I am a Sprint customer bc I am lazy and haven’t switched. Apparently TMobile who bought sprint is offering up to $700 for Sprint customers who trade in through them with the new contract. Pretty sure that’s the route I will go.
Thoughts on Apple Care of Apple Care with theft loss? Guess that's one of those things you think you never really need til something goes wrong. I've never purchased it in the past.
I have never bought it before but this year I had my X sitting on a towel at the pool and it got knocked into the pool. The X is supposed to be water resistant but the phone was warm from the sun and so the cool water caused moisture to condense inside the phone. It fucked up the Face ID where it no longer works. I had no insurance so basically my only option if I wanted to fix it was to buy a new phone. Apple care would have replaced it for like $99 I think. So I am going to go ahead and buy it for the new one.
AT&T keeps asking do I want keep my number. I click yes and then it says my number is already in use. Wtf IT’S MY FUCKING NUMBER YOU DIPSHITS now my computer crashed too
