My only issue is that last part. I just dont like the fact that there's no wiggle room in the schedule. If you could rotate Navy and Stanford every year and get a chance to play other teams id like it more. No way that happens though.
I’d imagine we treat the Navy game like the Shamrock Series in this scenario and play it at a neutral site every year. An 8 game conference schedule does leave 1 wild card game each year.
It seems like we could probably play hardball and keep a disproportionate share of the TV money in that deal if we wanted to. We showed very well from a ratings perspective this year, and having ND as a full member would move the needle quite a bit with CBS when the ACC is negotiating that deal. There would be room for us to flex. However, I think that is a very dangerous situation long-term. The ACC is a Clemson downturn away from being a truly horrible football conference, and that deal largely takes us off the ABC/ESPN airwaves. I'd much rather join the Big 10.
Watched the coaches sideline/ez version of our offense vs Clemson. Here are my takeaways Good and Bad Good Lugg had a few bad snaps but overall wasn't bad blocking. Seemed a little confused on who to block in space but overall seemed in the right places and wasn't beat. Tremble and Mayer are really good, get open, compete and rarely get beat while blocking. Kyren Williams. Couple times I thought maybe missed a cut opportunity but overall good vision, good cuts and physical. Had some really good pass blocks although wasn't as perfect as the 1st time. Scoreboard won't show it but thought for the most part Rees called plays that weren't destined to lose. We simply got beat on blocks and some other things ill mention. Only issue I have and wonder if it wasn't a gameplan thing is where are we gonna get explosive plays. Very few built in calls. Need more screens/misdirection maybe my other issue. Bad Book-dude missed some timing throws on 3rd downs and other situations where WR are open if he throws on time. Sometimes I wonder if his first instinct isn't to let guys come open and he doesn't anticipate. By time guy is open he is trying to scramble or run. Skronek was open a few times. Also feel he needs to give his guys a chance. Falls back on scrambling too much. Will fight like heck to get a 2 yard run but he has Mayer 1 on 1 on a breakaway route with a LB. He's gonna win that. Kramer got whipped a lot. Idk if he isn't completely healthy or is caught up to speed but not a great game. Brock Wright got whipped quite a bit too. Many times his guy fell in to make Kyren cut back or get tackled. Lastly Clemson had a good gameplan. Their overhangs and outside edge players were really aggressive and beat our WRs inside to the play. Which bottled up runs that ND blocked well up front. They were able to add to the run fit. This is harder to do now a days because RPOs but Venables was gambling a bit with good cause as I noticed very little RPOs by ND. So its easier for guys to commit to the run. Also they had clearly practiced fencing in Book. Their edge rushers didn't try to sack initially. They held the edge of the tackles to force Book to step up and their inside rushers pushed the pocket instead of trying to beat the OL on either side. Basically the kept his lanes closed inside and made him go way back to escape outside which allowed people to rally and made his momentum to go the wrong direction. Very good gameplan. They gambled Book couldn't beat them from inside the pocket and it paid off big as Book had some plays to complete but didn't see or pull the trigger
I mean... the most damning thing about this 5 star disparity is that it makes me feel like we under appreciate BK a bit. More sustained success the last 10 years than over half of that list w/ way less talent.
Merry Christmas you fuckers. Been a shitty god damn year but we’re playing in the (non) rose bowl and fuck it. Can’t wait until we can get back out and tailgate together next year. Hope everyone has a very happy holiday and let’s go out and shock the world (by not losing by 60)
We’ve reached out to Marcus Freeman about the DC position but he’s not speaking to anyone until the bowl game is over.
LSU also has, not sure about UM yet. He’s also a former OSU player so it could just be a non-starter for him.
They played in high school together on top of being on that Cinci staff. Hopefully it works out, it’d be a 2 year rental at most.
Good morning boys. Woke up to 10" of snow, this is a clear sign that winter has come and the team from the north (ND) is going to win it all. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!
This was literally the perfect time and perfect type of snow. Have no where to go and got to enjoy my very first white Christmas with just a boatload of snow this morning. Plus our puppy had the time of her life romping in the piles of snow this morning
We had a little snow before yesterday and now it’s almost all already gone. It’s been raining for two days straight. Sucks
went out dropping off cookie trays yesterday with my wife we go to a mutual friends house who’s a big Italian family, hanging out in there all seasons room drinking homemade wine at a 30 ft table trying to socially distance. It starts snowing outside, buddies old man asks when the last time I did “snow was”. Small talk occurs, he then takes a nice sack out of his pocket and puts it on the table- asks if I want in. I politely declined, he puts it away like nothing happened basically our buddy and his dad were doing drugs all day by themselves while drinking homemade wine
72 and sunny here in San Diego. A sure sign ND is going to be golden on Jan 1. The gods will it. Merry Christmas. Enjoy today and hope everyone is healthy.
