Anyone familiar w Sam Yang of the Southpaw podcast? Heard him interviewed on the Current Affairs podcast. He’s essentially a Leftist Joe Rogan. He’s a MMA guy that filters leftist talking points into his podcast. Talks a lot about worker rights of the fighters. I need another podcast like I need a hole in my head but he’s impressive imo.
Lol touché. The comparison is Rogan has brought in a lot of people who didn’t care about politics but did w comedy/mma and introduced them to right wing shit birds. This guy is attempting to do the same w leftist themes
The most recent Citations Needed pod was all about the origins of the concept of Real America, the Heartland, and the Midwest as stand ins for whiteness.
That was good ep. There's so much shit that you dont think about that's baked into American Lexicon. Also why it's hard to crack.
I don't have real strong feelings about Robinson but this is fucking awful and disgusting. I sadly don't see the Biden administration ever actually cracking down on Israel's apartheid level of oppression of Palestine.
Israel's treatment of Palestine? I mean just look at how they've continually settled on the West Bank and also maintained order over the Gaza strip despite remove the settlements there. https://www.amnesty.org/en/countrie...-israel-and-occupied-palestinian-territories/
Israel and Palestine were very close to coming to an agreement. Tensions had been dampening down. The Israeli right wing didnt like it and a totally lone wolf assassinated the PM (Rabin) Since then the Likud (far right) have taken over, told Palestine to go fuck itself while invading their territory and subjecting them to an apartheid system. It gets worse and worse. Every time Palestinians push back which is the equivalent to throwing rocks compared to what Israel does, they frame it as terrorism and create stricter laws and lockdowns ect. It's what happens when right wing propaganda is executed perfectly That was a very crude and basic description. lmk if you have any other questions
there was one making the rounds yesterday about a teen giving her college savings to her mom so she could make rent. inspirational! edit:
It sounds like one of the afternoon games from Stephen King's book, The Running Man, which was set in 2025.
For me, that's one of the more depressing things about COVID. There's no agreed upon set of facts. We would see stories every day about nurses using garbage bags and weeks-old N95s (or worse), and yet you just know that the chuds rationalize it by thinking it's just happening in one place or happening somewhere 'over there' -- so who cares. We have every bit of information ever put on paper available instantly on our phones, but there's no way to communicate the massive structural fractures to everyone.
The Fyre Fest documentaries were my first real exposure to how widespread the influencer culture is, 99.9% just seems like a total scam.
immigration lawyer and think tanker has a little more nuanced take, goes back and forth with the guy in there
https://www.washingtonpost.com/loca...2ac25a-713a-11eb-85fa-e0ccb3660358_story.html what this country did (and is doing) to central america... and, then, after what they did to this woman they tried to destroy her when she returned. from the wiki:
I saw people shitting on him for calling Trump, Bannon, Tucker socialist. That was already awful, but I didnt know he went on The Daily Caller to do it lmao. FFS Glen. Get it together. Or at this point just go away.
I just watch the YT clips. I think it's a 2hr daily pod or at least several times a week.. That's too much for me. Otherwise Id probably be a loyal listener.
If you're referring to the Majority Report it's a full 2.5 hour show Monday-Friday starting at noon and the full thing is usually up on youtube by like 4 iirc.
The podcast is daily and it’s about 60-75 minutes. They have the “fun half” behind a paywall. It’s a good show but I can’t keep up with the volume.
I probably listen to it three times a week depending on the subject matter. It is a lot of content to keep up with though.
Just saw that Jamie left / got fired from The Majority Report. Always got the impression she and Sam didn’t get along. I thought she kinda sucked tbh.
Think she left on her own accord, probably didn't help Michael passing. I liked her, she's doing something with a guy from Atlanta in a new podcast I believe.
She's lost when it comes to the details of policies, it was apparent Michael (rip) did sooooo much more research. I like Emma and Nomiki but really miss Michael.
jamie seemed very exclusively ideologically grounded on a show where Sam drives the bus and is a huge policy and detail nerd. wasn't sustainable long term.
She has been on that show as long as I watched it which was right around when Trump got elected, so probably around 5 years. Longer than any job I've worked at thus far.
