I have great news. The Naturdays I had sitting outside yesterday were frozen solid at -6 degrees are now all thawed and at a perfect drinking temperature. SHITPOSTING COMMENCE!!!
Canada's unchecked climate weapons program has grown too sophisticated for our energy defense. Just give in on the pipeline, Biden, and get Trudeau to call off the assault.
Stay safe guys. If it warms up enough, somebody walk over to @Lechnerds house and kick him in the balls for us.
Step 1: drink lots of beer Step 2: crush beer cans and throw in empty pool Step 3: repeat steps 1 and 2 until pool is 90% full Step 4: level to the top with soil and mulch Step 5: top it off with small layer of concrete Step 5: smooth surface of concrete with trowel of choice Step 6: sell house
Has anyone consulted notable TAMU alum and petroleum engineer William Clifford Hogg III about getting this thing back flowing?
My sister, brother-in-law and two kids in Dallas are staying at a friend’s place like refugees right now.
Some of my extended family are driving one hour round trip to fill buckets of water at our house because it’s still running. They just need it for their toilets
So in case anyone is wondering it’s cold as shit. I cut up a bunch of firewood for my chiminea a couple years ago so I have a bunch left over and my fireplace is gas, so I am trying to give as much of it away on NextDoor as possible. Unfortunately that means hauling it all to the front yard and that’s a bitch in this cold. Pool is frozen about two inches or so. I broke it up with a shovel once but fuck that. Apparently the rumor is two power generation plants in Plano have storm damage and aren’t online yet which is part of why we haven’t been rolling off and on but more off with random moments turned on. Luckily the two hours of power we got this morning got the house up to 65. Oh and if you are interested in why this is happening; this is a great thread on Twitter.

Looks like some agencies are about to lose some position coaches and the item will be deamed fixed...
Why? It was in the low 40s all night for us, and that's with about an hour and a half of power in a relatively new house. There are a lot of places built in the 50s and 60s here
I can only imagine how screwed we would be without all new exterior wall insulation and new spray foam in attic. 5 hours no electricity put us at 50 inside.
Especially if it’s on an exterior wall. My living room was in the 50s but my kitchen with tile on the exterior wall was in the 40s this morning.
I know somebody in Dallas whose home has been without power since the beginning, is an older and apparently poorly insulated home, and got down to 30.

Power back on in uptown, gotta slam two days of work into 90 minutes so ofc I’m shitposting here instead.
I finally have power!! But the water is still off and when it comes one we are under a boil notice. But at least now I am able to throw movies on the tv to somewhat keep my girls calm.
https://www.houstonchronicle.com/bu...ower-prices-spiking-across-Texas-15951684.php the Houston Chronicle has a good article this am... tried to copy and paste but the ads and my iPad were not making it pleasant...sorry
As someone who lives in Nebraska I ask this question out of not knowing how it works in the south. Are most of the main waterlines outside/above ground and that is why they are freezing? I assume you guys typically dont have to winterize irrigation systems and what not?
Also, reminder...if your car has been sitting in the same spot parked outside (nowhere to drive this week). Running it for 10-15 minutes a day wouldnt hurt. The cold kills car battery over time
Is the local waffle house open? That's how I look at my So waterlines are underground just not to the depth that yours are up north. There are design criteria of depth of waterlines based on penetration of freezing soil. This storm just fucked them...with a toothbrush.
Fair points. My 1950 cape cod was without a furnace for 3 days below 10 last winter and we bottomed out about 47 so that’s my base line.
Encouraging news. My buddy got power for an hour before us last night but when we got power he lost it. He got his at 1 and we got ours at 2:20. His is still on.
Power lasted exactly 2.5 hours but man I only needed about 60 minutes. Amazing how much better you feel getting everything charged, getting your place above 55 degrees, cooking a meal and having some hot coffee.
One of the funniest (to me) and longest running jokes on ShaggyBevo was a guy in a thread asking if the HEB was open during a storm and never getting a reply so he started losing his shit. Always asking if the "HEB is open" then became the reference any time any weather event was mentioned.
No power since 7 am Monday at my house in Aledo. If not for my in-laws, we'd be huddling under blankets in 40 degree temps.
