I think this is the 3rd time in a week we’ve seen this song and dance before. Play a new song this one keeps skipping..
Currently staking the bulk of my ADA. Looking forward to seeing how this run with alt coins goes and how high it gets.
weird. CEO of Goldman went on CNBC to say that bitcoin is on an inevitable path to have the same market cap and then higher than gold. And that adoption is happening faster than he anticipated. Edit: seeing some edited tweets on this. So might not have been accurate.
I have over 20k on Coinbase that's protected by Google Authenticator. How hard is it to get those funds? My fear is I will buy a ledger and then somehow lose the password and have my BTC stuck on a metal box that I can't get into. ...or I lose it. I've misplaced a lot of money before. In college when I was playing a lot of online poker, I'd have a ton of cash and store it in random containers (pringles can, baby food jar, etc.). I found one a couple years ago and it was a great surprise. It's also really pathetic and worrisome that I can misplace money so easily. I was cleaning out old clothes during Covid and felt something in a swimsuit. I had 15 $100 bills in the weird little pocket that you couldn't really store anything in. Spoiler
65% of my ADA is on etoro. They started offering staking in March, I've received two payments already, I like it. Need to get some of my BTC onto binance soon and get 5.5% back.
How can you get on Binance in the US? VPN I suppose but I’d be terrified of getting locked out You can get 5.25% on Blockfi which is US based
This is my fear as well. Also its kind of a pain in the ass having to store the seed phrase on a physical piece of paper, or something not exposed to the internet
BTC offers staking? I just transfer it to somewhere that offers it? I’m a newbie on staking...are there risks with doing so?
Wasn't trying to make a huge deal out of it, was just surprised it's that high. Won't go on forever so it's whatever.
At some point this will become a pretty big issue. Will likely have to regulating mining operations through licenses and limit the number allowed to operate.
I mean idc where it is, that's a big number. Are you saying it's not true or that it doesn't matter bc it's not here?
The country that limits the number of miners loses. The game theory and incentive structure is definitely not for Country A to limit miners while Country B has as many miners as possible. Plus good luck getting any sort of coordinated global response to this.
I have what I think is about $2k on Binance (not us) and haven’t really had the impetus to figure this out yet I suspect VPN will work but TMB has yet to recommend a solution
edited this part in but I was too late. Also important to note that a lot of mines run on green energy or even capture some of the flare off gasses that can't be used. Turning it into BTC instead of throwing toxic shit into the atmosphere sounds like a pretty good trade off to me. Oh ya and as technology advances this shit will get even more efficient.
i always assumed the defenses of btc's energy consumption were better than the ones being made in here because yikes
be clear about what you're saying here because it seems like you're making a sweat shops are actually efficient and good argument
No, I’m saying mining has the ability to convert waste that would otherwise be harmful to the environment into something of value. Something we should probably be leaning into and will head that way over time. Incentivize these companies and you might have something.
so you're making the "we can do it with green energy" argument, by pointing to carbon capture specifically? what % of btc mining is in this vein or is this just like btc bro defense for real criticisms? I don't really care to debate it with a btc simp, but mostly just surprised how weak the defenses are.
I could dig up an article for you or get you some stats bro but you really don't care to debate. I'm mostly surprised about your ability to be the most arrogant person in most threads you post in.
Getting some real capitalism at all costs fuck the planet vibes. The energy consumption is an issue that should be addressed.
