Will be interesting to see if we try to use extra picks to move back up or sit and stockpile. Show us what you got new regime

Given how much TD missed in the drafts, I don't blame you for getting mad.

Plus for at least 30 extra minutes we get to fantasy what it would be like to have a great draft. MAKE IT HAPPEN

    https://theathletic.com/2536743/202...all-hawking-safety?source=user-shared-article

If there’s a ball, Richie Grant will find it. In four seasons at UCF, including three as a starter, the ball-hawking safety intercepted 10 passes, broke up 16 passes and forced seven fumbles. He led the Knights in tackles twice and finished second another time. He knows how to find the ball, and he knows how to take it away.

The Atlanta Falcons drafted Grant with the No. 40 pick in the 2021 NFL Draft in the second round on Friday, adding one of the biggest risers in the pre-draft process. The 6-foot, 200-pound Grant dominated Senior Bowl practices, unofficially leading in interceptions, and his workouts impressed teams even more, moving him up boards in recent months.

Grant was a two-star recruit out of Choctawhatchee Senior High School in Florida, according to the 247Sports Composite. He was ranked outside the top 350 players in Florida. But his instincts and physicality shined quickly at UCF, and he played in all 13 games as a redshirt freshman. He became a three-time all-conference player in the following years, including unanimous honors as a senior, and he was a semifinalist for top defensive player and defensive back awards. His 10 interceptions are the second-most among the 2021 draft class.

“When you need a play to be made, Richie will come up and make the play,” former UCF defensive coordinator Randy Shannon said. “Some form or fashion, he would make a play to change the momentum of a game.”

Dane Brugler on Richie Grant (No. 1 S, No. 40 overall prospect in ‘The Beast’)
With the play speed and production that popped on tape, Grant does receiver-like things at the catch point and flies downhill looking for the kill shot. He was credited with only three touchdown passes allowed the last two seasons, but he must continue to improve his route anticipation and run/pass reads. Overall, Grant needs to iron out some consistency issues, but he has NFL starting-level range, eyes and ball-hawking tendencies. He projects as a single-high or split safety who will compete for starting reps as a rookie.

    Top college highlight
Grant had an electric start to the 2019 Gasparilla Bowl against Marshall. On the third play of the game, Grant intercepted a tipped ball and returned it 39 yards for a touchdown. On Marshall’s first play of the next drive, a screen pass went for 30 yards, but Grant ran down the running back from behind and punched the ball out, a fumble which UCF recovered. Grant had moved up toward the line at the snap and got blocked by a tight end. But he broke free and chased the running back down, knocking the ball out 30 yards later.

    Superlative
Grant was Pro Football Focus’ highest-rated safety in run defense last season, with a 90.0 score. His 33 run stops over the past two seasons are also the most among this year’s draft-eligible defensive backs. Pair that with his 10 interceptions and seven forced fumbles in four years, and this is a safety who makes big play after big play.

    Coachspeak
“He’s got all the attributes to be a very, very good NFL player,” Shannon said. “All attributes. He can play special teams, he can play safety, he can play big nickel. But Richie has one thing inside there that a lot of guys don’t have. He’s not selfish. He just wanted to do everything to help the team win.

“He was a leader. He’d grab the young guys to watch film and make sure they understood what to get done. Guys at his position, he’d make sure they were on the same tune. He wasn’t worried about someone taking his job. He just wanted to win.”
