she’s been Pelotoning or something… she’s always been pretty but she’s def working on taking good care of that body and the results are… pleasing
Surprised Sarah went home, although she did cook the worst dish of the night and it seemed. That Penny team was the obvious loser though
It was either her or Gabe which was tough because they’re both strong. She’s too reliant on yogurt and he on Moles though.
Finally caught up on the last 2 weeks. I thought with the tasting menu concept whoever had Shota was going to win. That is what he does. That team had a clear leader and plan and they killed it. Fun to watch. The other team could have executed each dish perfectly and still got crushed. Hope Sarah gets back in. Chris is so lucky his ice cream was good. Hope he goes this week, he is the weakest link for sure.
Cooking definitely seems like it’s a step up from the last couple of seasons. Also - with a big asterisk of putting the post-show Gabe news aside - the top 8 are all likable, and seem to like each other. Gabriel was the only guy who wasn’t.
great episode and good season considering the pandemic constraints did not like the preview for next week but cant wait for finale regardless
This top three seemed inevitable Spoiler Dawn could’ve possibly gone home instead of Jamie but she’s so good.
They got the Top 3 right but Dawn is lucky as hell Shota is clear #1 but who knows what finale format is
Dawn fucked up telling the judges about the lack of a bread product accident Spoiler But man they got me at the end
Thought she was going for sure for not getting those on the plate. Glad all three are going to the finale. Rooting for Dawn and shota for sure
I’m going to be devastated when Shota loses to Gabe. He’s not only the best contestant this year, he’s one of my favorite dudes from the past few years.
Probably should not say this but out of any Asian-cuisine-focused Chef on this show, Shota had the most range and diversity of any that I've seen excel. He is not a one or two trick pony. He can basically take on any challenge, and seems to have elite execution with elegant plating for his vision.
Way too much playing the eliminations safe with crudos and knife skills (moreso in the season she lost) obviously a great chef but like bwi said, Shota is one of my favorites.
It was a great season. Was hoping for dawn or shota but gabe did seem to put forward the best meal. Dawn work on your timing!!
Cant lie I was stunned by outcome but Gabe executed his vision to perfection. One of the most flawless top chef finale performances.
Didn’t think about it until this morning, but the fact that they didn’t have that long break right before the finale had to really impact the contestants. They had to all be so exhausted at the end
I think you can certainly question how much vetting bravo puts into the contestants but I’m not sure what the author expected top chef to do. Cancel the season half way through? If they truly didn’t find this out until after I don’t know what else they could have done. It’s definitely unfortunate that the dude that won seems to be awful. bringing up the tonya / the challenge incident was interesting too
Vetting wouldn’t have done much - maybe they find out he’s having an affair but I don’t know if that should keep him off the show; the retaliatory conduct doesn’t happen until after the show was shot. And who knows what he was actually like in Portland, but he at least came across on camera as a decent guy. It does seem pretty weak that they never addressed it.
yeah my only issues is the lack of addressing it at the end. by that point, it was out there and while they couldn't go back and change the show/winner, it could have been addressed by bravo/top chef
It definitely seems like a coordinated effort to not respond / acknowledge the situation. Padma gave us one tweet about it. I wonder how widespread it’s known tho, going through her Twitter and I don’t really see the nasty comments on any of her posts that you would typically see when something like this happens
I mean his heinous conduct was done after he had won the show, I'm not sure what exactly they should do other than make a statement from the network not condoning sexual harassment in the workplace.
weird that it’s the last three weeks that have been tough for him and have prompted introspection. and not all that time since he got fired for retaliation
been doing a rewatch of old seasons and got to Season 4 Restaurant Wars Bourdain is filling in for Tom and Jose Andres a guest judge. Padma as fine as ever. Dale v Blais.
