It got me last night. I have been going to work all throughout COVID and still was during the fires. Came home yesterday, almost passed out and had a serious migraine
I'm totally remote and staying inside, but I guess it's just been long enough now with the reduced exposure for it to matter :/
Nothing like what y'all are dealing with but we reached an aqi of 78 in OKC. Can't smell it but the visibility is super low.
We're in much better shape now but still not technically 'normal' Not sure of the containment of Riverside and Beachie Creek, but Holiday Farm is supposedly around 17%
Climate change is real y'all and its here. I have lived in this area my entire life and we have never had fires like this before, this has now happened twice in the last 3 years (this year was the worst in a century though). This was 9/8
The Bobcat Fire is still burning pretty much out of control. It burned clear across the mountain range to the high desert, the Joshua Trees and Manzanitas are getting obliterated . Burned through a lot of the camping places I've been going to since I was a kid. Joshua Trees take a really long time to grow, so this is terrible.
Feels like she's really shoehorning that tie-in to social issues According to her own tweet, none of them started the fires for political reasons. The headline is "butthurt bitches start fires"
Napa and Sonoma are getting destroyed Meanwhile our air is supposed to get smokey again tomorrow, because in 2020 SMOKE FORECASTS ARE A THING
Just evac'd with my parents from Granby, on the downhill side of Berthoud now. Starting about 5 pm last night, this was just unreal to watch. Hope everyone out in Grand County and now on the other side of the divide stay safe out there. First responders have been incredible. Very well-organized efforts.
For context, the current record for hottest temperature in June for Portland is 102 degrees, and their all-time hottest temperature is 107. They could make a run at 111-112 degrees on Sunday.
Yeah this is fucking horrifying. Currently staring down a Saturday--->Saturday of 106, 109, 111, 113, 109, 108, 106, 104
Honestly every issue nowadays takes a back seat to my concern about the West and water going forward.
I mean, the world and water. But yes. First page of the global warming debunked thread still pisses me off.
Was just reading that United is offering waivers for folks who want to back out of west coast flying this weekend. Expecting irregular ops I guess.
Butthead and his buddy Beavis hiked up to the top of Mount Hood where it’s 56 while his Suburu along with you plebes are roasting in the sun. Should have planned better.
Literally the base of Mt Hood is supposed to be 94. The coast is a different story, a scorching 66 degrees.
We are supposed to get to 90 on Sunday here which is still too hot for me but nothing like the valley
Totally normal stuff here in Arizona https://dffm.az.gov/closures-be-implemented-state-trust-land-friday
Reporting to you live from the region where we're still easily 10° off of tomorrow's expected nightmare and everything sucks super hard.
Just checked Hillsboro OR because my dad lives there, it's 104 now and they expect 114 Sunday and Monday it's 77 and breezy here in the state where everybody's leaving for Texas
