My friend and his girlfriend are making their living doing cooking shows and social media stuff online. They're not huge but they have enough of a following for it to be a stable income for them. Seems fun and it's an opportunity that wouldn't have existed a few years ago. Obviously lots of it sucks and people trying to grind for status can be cringey but it's not inherently bad, just different
I always wonder how many of the like super big YouTube stars that are just giant douchebags got there by appealing to armies of dumb ten year olds watching their videos. Like kids with no marketing value at all are making these people famous and now they're in the culture and most of us don’t even like them. And these grown men who have been getting positive reinforcement for their childish behavior for years are basing their personas on what grade schoolers like.

My kid watches Preston Plays and he's the fucking worst. Dude has more than 10 million subs and he's a zoomer dipshit appealing to grade schoolers because he plays minecraft and fortnite. Good hustle but man he's just insufferable.

I should preface my social media influencer hate with I have to deal with them on a regular basis for work. Very entitled bunch who think they need to get everything for free. Also I have a close family friend who is a Trustafarian (A young person adhering to countercultural trends, like hinduism, who subscribes to an unemployed, shiftless life based upon an unlimited amount of funds due to generational wealth). She went to an ivy league school and is now trying to become a spiritual influencer with her boyfriend. Its just so cringy and fake to me. "hey do you like books"

I really enjoy the term "cheugy" and all the things the zoomers make fun of millennials for. Basically my entire cultural lifestyle is cheugy in these kids' eyes. It's hilarious how quickly my generation became lame and easy to make fun of.
