I saw them described as being like if a Spotify recommendation algorithm created a band. Pretty accurate iyam
there's a very real question. I'm tellin' ya All Systems Go, featuring a young Mark Slaughter, fuckin' rips.
I haven't enjoyed the last two albums to be honest. The first EP & LP are very good though imo. I enjoyed those. You may be right about the bands overall muscianship but that kid's voice is one in a million proven by the numerous comparisons to Plant. Saw them two summers ago at The Stony Pony and I'm glad I did. The way that kid belts at times he won't be able to maintain that sound a long career. They ('we' probably) think that way because of the Led Zep comparisons and unfortunately instead of developing a clear sound of their own they just went with it. Now, to me, that wouldn't be a bad thing if they wrote songs about universal interests for their age like girls, cars, heartbreak all that shit. Instead they doubled down on the Zep tropes of singing about nonsense like Odin's Spear and mystical adventures through the cosmos. In order for that to be interesting to me the actual music needs to be so fucking good (ie. Immigrant Song) I don't care about the subject matter and for me that's very hard to accomplish.
It's Lick It Up and Animalize for my only Kiss albums I'll reach for. Think they're both VV era, too. Not that douche Frahely at least
Now I'm not here to say people who love thrash suck ass, but I am here to say they suck ass if they don't also like butt. Rob Halford probably said this
Sad Wings of Destiny #1 for me also has dope album art that influenced a hundred trillion album covers
but... but... pantera started as glam and their fanbase likes to completely ignore/deny the period in which it happened.
Should be echoed across the internet. Bunch of intellectually insecure hardos that think they're only safe to enjoy sophisticated or edgy subgenres of metal, while all those edgy thrash/prog metal bands grew up listening to def lep
Like, what's this idea that only liking Slayer and Fate's Warning while turning up your nose at Great White affords you more perceived "depth" as an individual? Gettin' tuned up and poundin some White is an indelible, beautiful and universal part of our human nature and to deny it is to choose suffering. Parachute our asses into Syria with a pallet of Old Crow, diet shasta cola and a Once Bitten tape and I'm p sure this centuries old bullshit ENDS
Woke up on the bitter side of the bed this AM. Radio DJs gotta be done with Steel Panther already. I mean, come the fuck on, talk about the most effortful misappropriation of irony ever, parodying something that's already entirely in on the joke. Shit's not the least bit clever, and the music's below average. Stop wasting valuable airtime that could just be playing more Ratt. Like, who honestly thinks something like this isn't already entirely self-aware of its over-the-topness?
I have quoted every single line of the first 1:40 of this video multiple times in my life. Many, many times. The one I like the best is the most obscure and always gets a WTF look from my wife. "But Consuelo, mi amor!" After a few seconds she knows who she sounds like to me in that moment. Unfortunately I probably look like that guy to her.
Billy Sheehan is the best bassist to ever pick up the instrument and I'll never be swayed from that. Vai is the only guitarist I ever felt could hang out in the same state as EVH. DLR has magical powers or terrific connections to put together a backing band.
Rest in Butt, Jeff Labar. Sad news. I'll prolly have to take a day off of work when Tom Kiefer dies someday This tune is amazing
Not butt rock, but that sucks nonetheless. It's not like anyone in the metal thread would be familiar with their stuff anyway. Before he was in Metal Church he was in a band called Heretic.
Why I put it here. I figured there was a much better chance the handful of us that post in here would know them.
