This song has always bothered me a little bit because that opening riff is so fucking killer and then they pretty much just totally abandon it. Never understood that. It's like, imagine if Lay It Down abandoned that opening riff.
Tell me, are the gloomy misanthropes of the heavy music thread all butthurt about the Ghost/Volbeat tour for which I'm VERY FUCKING EXCITED? /spirited music thread.
I get it man. If an awesome band suddenly abandoned its own heart and turned into a deathmetal band I'd feel betrayed
As you should, but lets not call either band awesome as both were mediocre at best and changes were probably necessary. It's not like Ratt turned into Nickelback or anything. It was two semi-shitty bands turning into a different flavor of shit. Ghost Volbeat
Y'all tracking this story about Richie Faulkner having an aortic dissection mid-solo and finishing the show? That might be the most metal thing I've ever heard of. Aortic dissection might be one of the most painful things a person could experience, on the occasions they actually live to talk about it
I've read about it. Saw the video. I know this is the height of unpopular opinionism but Priest was never one of my favorites. Their hits are about it for me.
I also have a strong and unpopular opinion about Priest, and that is that Turbo is their best album. But that really shouldn't be a surprise
Back to the GOAT music, butt rock. We're entering the ides of Dokktober. Having a debate with a buddy as to what's GOATer: Tooth and Nail or Under Lock and Key. I'm firmly team Lock/Key.
Was out walking the dogs with the buds in and the "Best of My Collection" playlist crankin' (approx. 3800 tunes) and this classic came on
Just dropped a reply in there about the link to Pulp's 'Like A Friend'. You guys are now talking about Korn. For a while it was interesting with the female singers but now... Korn.
I didn't participate in the grunge movement even though it was all taking place as I was exiting high school. I was into partying, cars and the infinite search for pussy. Songs about depressing shit outside of heartbreak held very little appeal to me.
well this sure as shit isn't the wearing airwalks and killing yourself thread It's Dokktober motherfucks!
I have this LP single (not a 45 but a full size record) with Back For The Attack and Paris Is Burning live. That live Paris Is Burning is terrific.
so there's an actual segment of special assholes that turn up their nose at 80s hair metal but somehow think Korn is a thing that's ok to esteem?
It's Dokktober motherfucks! [/QUOTE] Don Dokken wanted to be my Eskimo Bro! He hit on the last girl I hooked up with before I met my wife as she was trying to pay him for a performance he had just given (solo) at a local college she was working for. After his show she approached him and he moved on her Donald Trump on the tour bus style and she was just like "Sorry Don, I'm just here to give you your check. Not interested." She said his response was to not even blink and say "Pfft! I've got to get to the bar anyway". At the bar he proceeded to sit alone the entire time. This was the very late 90's
RU, that's a really great story. What I wanna know is, it's page 14, why is this just coming to my attention
It's a story about 'Sad Don' and we celebrate 'Killer Don' in here. Look, it had to be really bad because this girl was a big time fan in HS. This was maybe 8 or 9 years later and she said she was just repulsed by him. She told me the story when I ran into her at a really good mutual friend's wedding in the mid 00's. Really cute girl too. That short, looks good in a mini and is STACKED on top type. Now if it had been Jon Bon Jovi she probably would have dropped her panties right then and there. She LOVED that motherfucker. Which explains my good luck with her because as JBJ went gray he looked more and more like my paternal grandmother every year.
Love that album! Wish I had good info on them but they weren't exactly a household name back in the 80's. While being from my hometown I wasn't actually introduced to them early on so they went unknown to me for years. Way back I picked up the Old Metal Records (bootleg label) version of this on CD, I didn't care for the remaster from 2000 and I know King Fowley likes to release his CD bootlegs using a vinyl rip.
Good timing, I needed a couple distraction videos as I'm smack in the middle of trying to get through the last Dream Theater album. I told my friend I'd listen to it and I'm a man of my word. He doesn't realize how close he is to becoming an ex-friend though. God this sucks.
