You know what, if we were going to lose, I’m glad we did it early in the season. If we would have made it to like November and then dropped our first one, the retard faction of our fanbase would have been insufferable for all of the time up to it and even more so afterward
Welcome to the 5 stages of grief folks. Denial Anger Bargaining Depression Acceptance Personally Im somewhere in the bargain stage
only thing that would save the season is Keene being Kyler Murray on the bench but I am not ready to be delusional
Yeah, he is an upperclassman and has history with Gus. Unless Keene just absolutely kills it the next 2 weeks in practice, it will be gatewood
I don't think Keene is going to look good. We just lost with DG who is by all accounts elite and experienced. Even if Keene was as talented (doubtful) his lack of experience is going to be a problem.
You can overcome lack of experience on this team, especially if run game holds up. Not as easily as DG could with the weapons he started with...but possible. We lost, but DG had 5 touchdowns. Not like he struggled in a loss. I think a talented QB can come in and still score 30 on anyone in the conference - albeit with some mistakes we know will be coming as both KZ and GD both showed us as freshmen.
Bye week and Navy sucks. Then ECU right? Time to grow into the role for sure but our WR are still ass so that doesn't help.
At the end of the day, we played most of the game on Friday without our #1 RB (who was our #3 coming into the year), our #1 CB, our #1 LB, our #1 WR, our #1 Center, and our starting #2 DT. We got wrecked with injuries in that game in a way I don't know that I've ever seen. The backups did what they could but we don't have the depth that we would like to have, especially with Heup's shitty recruiting on defense. Hopefully all, or most, of those guys are back for Navy...but at the very least by the time we play Cincy. We can beat probably anyone else on our schedule without DG (with the possible exclusion of Cincy, SMU, and Memphis). I would say SMU and Memphis are coin flips at this point based on what we know. But if we win all of those games and lose to Cincy...we're still in the conference championship game. There's a chance DG is back by then too. Edit: I should probably add Tulane to the list of teams that could beat us with a freshman QB.
I think the toughest loss we had was losing Jarvis Ware (the Mizzou transfer), who would have been a starting CB for us.
Feel like a lot in here are super over-confident in this team. I think we can be optimistic, but to think any game is a gimme with our pretty bad defense, ehh WRs, and an inexperienced QB is laughable. I’m preparing myself for pain and will be pleasantly surprised if we finish with 7-8 wins.
I'd say we def lose to Cincy now and one more to SMU/Memphis. Maybe both. 8-4/9-3 seems likely but if we get worse injuries then yeah Tulane and like ECU could be losses too.
I've done some research on Mikey Keene today. He has never lost a HS football game as a starter and was compared to Manziel. So in short Mikey Football is going to lead us to the promised land
I just think our meh WRs and solid running game will still look better against a bunch of these teams we play. But Im not at all optimistic on Cincy - granted they don't look as good as advertised either. Maybe you can steal a couple of the other tougher games at home.
Also our defensive front will absolutely keep us in games or at least give the offense opportunities to stay in games early. Cincy has the potential to get away but other than that who knows.
If all of the players who were hurt at Louisville are back by Cincy (with the exception of DG), I would say we have a puncher's chance in that game. I do wish we had played TMB all game on Friday, because we may have pulled it off even despite what was going on. He is a game changing DL, as evidence by the deflect and interception.
Watching Mikey Keene's highlights I was like we need to get his teammate #7. That guy is committed to Ohio State lol
Do y’all not remember Desmond Ridder RPO’ing our face off last year? I don’t see our defense hanging in there with Cincinnati.
Remember when we had Trequan Smith Gabe Davis Jordan Akins Otis Anderson Greg McCrae Dredrick Snellson and KZ all on the same offense. That was pretty fun. I liked that.
and Franks as a backup TE who is better than anything we have now . a lot of fans forget how much talent KZ had to work w when shitting on DG
I've seen some tough in-person losses the past 2 years between Pitt, Cincy, and now Louisville. Kind of glad I skipped last year's Memphis game due to covid. The Louisville fans were decent, some good and bad ones. Still booked the trip up to Cincy in a few weeks and hope to turn the away game bad luck around.
My cousin is a YouTube/tiktok make-up/beauty influencer. No one has an awkward or ugly phase in middle and high school anymore. She said it was very weird when her followers became mostly teens.
Hey, bud. I love you and all, but I am going to lock you in a cage for the entire weekend of the Cincy game before you can catch any flight.
lol, my luck is bound to change. I traveled to Mizzou in 2014, Stanford in 2015, and then Michigan in 2016, all L's. Michigan = Louisville. 1st loss under the new head coach. Time for Gus to start a winning streak.
I think my only road wins are bowl games and USF. And I even went to UAB once (loss) plus Southern miss x2 VT Boston College Miami UF I actually haven't traveled to many away games at all.
I used to be undefeated in away games with some massive wins but I've fallen on hard times lately. Louisville and Penn St 2013 were my crown jewels
Away games I have made it too.. UGA ( still hurts) Auburn ( yup still hurts) South Carolina WVU ( begining of the 17 game losing streak) Penn St. The loss not the win Marshall ( 1st loss and the 1st win) UF both games Ga. Tech, the loss to GOL UGA in Liberty Bowl Miss St Liberty Bowl (so cold) All the USF games The St. Pete Bowls Not a great record to be honest.
