respect my dipshit q brother won't let my nephew get vaccinated. my ex-SIL has been trying to figure out how to get it for my nephew behind my brother's back... imagine being a fuckin teenager and you have to scheme to get a vaccination because your dad is a moron. how do you respect your parent when you know they got tricked by impact font jpegs on facebook? btw when i was trying to get my brother to get vaccinated he initially said he won't get covid (he works in a poorly ventilated factory)... oh okay. now that some people he works with have gotten it, he says he'll survive it (he's 41 and 350+ lbs). when i bring up that he has like 15 comorbidities he says he'll take his chances. i don't even know... what do you do?
He doesnt believe its a real threat. You and him are largely made up of the same genes, and you and your folks are perfectly fine after getting vaxxed. Maybe you can go through the Phil Valentine saga together, and about how he changed his mind but ultimately ended up leaving his kids and wife to face the world without his guidance and presence. I dont know how people could have watched the video coming out of India when Delta came up and responded with "meh." That was another argument I had. I deal with covid every day with what I do. That’s why I protect myself and my loved ones. The dumb ass just couldn’t get his head around it.
I think I’ve told this story in the family members around the holiday thread. The brother in law I’m referencing was offered a job while he had been unemployed for months with the county by one of my other brother in laws. It paid $15 an hour and was part time, with a clear pathway to full time, benefits, and an increase in pay. He said he wasn’t interested because it didn’t pay enough. Keep in mind his “job” when he has one is as a car retailer for dealerships. The other thing that makes it even worse is, one of my other brother in law (him and his wife are vaccinated and wonderful people) just had a child who has a disease called SCID which basically means he has no ability to generate T cells and therefore fight off infections of any kind. He’s getting a bone marrow transplant (process just started this week and is proceeding well so far). They sent a text basically saying assuming all continues to go well their babies immune system should be up to normal around Valentine’s Day, but they’re not allowing anyone to see him that isn’t vaxxed and hasn’t updated trap, mmr, etc. I did an actual fist pump when they sent that out to the family.

I always feel a bit sad when I see these people leave kids, then I realize there’s a chance they aren’t raised to be assholes by idiots and a happiness washes over me. I’m sure the wife and these kids will get paid by my tax dollars so now I’m a little sad again because there are people in real need who deserve it. It’s a roller coaster.
How come ex SIL can’t get their kid vaccinated without him knowing? My kids aren’t old enough to be vaccinated yet but does it require a signature from both parents or something?
My bil was/is not getting the vaccine. He knew me and my family were taking precautions. We are vaccinated and are trying to lie low until the age range of our kids opens up for them to get the vaccine. Well he pretty much never took it seriously. He got covid 4 days after our last visit. If our visit had been pushed back one weekend, our entire family would have been exposed to covid. He was taking no precautions and got it at a meeting of some men's group he's a part of. He ended up having a mild case but the damage is, and has been for some time, done to the relationship. I mean how does a relationship get repaired or come back from the idea that you didn't care if you got my whole family sick because you couldn't take even the most minimal of precautions. It's an enormous "fuck you."
As someone who washed cars at a dealership for a while in college, I can say you'd pretty much just have to not ever show up for work to get fired.
Usually custody is split 50-50 so both parents have to agree to it. You can go to court (some parents have), but that is expensive.
