Gainesville is p shitty. But most of the other college towns I've been to have at least had some charm
Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy NY. They've invested a bunch in the downtown so it's way better than it used to be at least Elite hockey barn though and amazing school
Starkville has gotten better over the last decade. I’d be cool if MS State lost every game, but the town has improved and game day atmosphere and tailgating is much better than it was 20 years ago as well.
Bowling Green is right there, same with Yipsilanti college towns I’ve been too ranked: Madison Bloomington Ann Arbor Harvard- Caimbridge DePaul - Chicago area Georgetown- DC area Northwestern Oxford, OH Tulane- NO area near campus Manhattan KS Athens OH Palo Alto Lexington Knoxville Lincoln Columbia Champagne Lawrence Minny- Minneapolis area Nashville - Vandy area Pitt- Pitt area Fort Worth- TCU area Columbus - OSU area Waco UT- Austin Area Lansing Louisville Marquette South Bend West Laf Dayton- UD area Cincy- UC area Dekalb Muncie Bowling Green Yipsilanti I left off smaller schools like Loyola, Indiana State etc. I need to get out West and to the South. My cousin just started at Oregon so we should be going out there for a game in the next three years. Weirdly never been to Iowa, ISU, or Penn State despite spending a ton of time in both states.
thats the whole fucking campus it’s like a stadium, 6 buildings, a jimmy johns, and some gas stations- awful place
Highly objectionable list tbf as my experiences drive everything. I enjoyed my three hours in Waco driving through campus, hitting magnolia, and eating at Inn&out
I tailgated at UC for college gameday last weekend, and honestly was blown away. I hadn’t been to a game for a few years but the tailgate experience is so much better than when I was in school. I will be going back a few times a year now. The area around campus is night and day compared to when I was last in school ~7 years ago The actual on campus part has always been beautiful
I’ve been to probably 80% of all SEC schools home games. I liked Auburn the least. Athens was on another level. Fayetteville really surprised me and I thought it was awesome. Gainesville was just ok and South Carolina was ok. UGA, Ole Miss, Ark are my 3 favorites. Bama and Starkville would be next for me. Baton Rouge is fun, but like you it’s too big for my taste
I gotta say, this is not a broadly held opinion just based on living in the South my whole life. Certainly the first time I’ve ever heard Wilmington referred to as “super trashy”
Yeah, I could see that. The two times I’ve been we were in the Fairgrounds or another lot adjacent to the stadium. Meh.
Fayetteville by far most underrated sec town Columbia and Knoxville the worst in sec east. Only one i havent been to is Starkville, but that's probably for good reason.
Lists from known haters and losers (fans of inferior birds and such) will not be acknowledged. That being said, Muncie's a weird place and you have to know what you're looking for in terms of an experience. The BSU area is basically separate, but downtown Muncie is a lot of beer and a lot of fun
