I get a full body massage every month. I get a pedicure once a month. I get a hand massage, head massage, neck massage and facial scrub with my haircut every month. So basically I just pay people to touch me without the gratification of a happy ending.
Drink lots of water. Get plenty of sleep. Always wear sunscreen. Buy a massage gun. Stretch at least 10-15 minutes a day. Meditate. Don’t waste your energy on things and people who don’t deserve it. Other than a monthly haircut I don’t do anything so idk what to add on that. But, I’m a big proponent of self care.
I use multiple brickell products. Unsure if it is genuinely good. Hard to parse out what are good men’s skin care products and what are just well marketed products
In the morning, if my face is a little puffy, I'll put on an ice pack while doing stomach crunches. I can do a thousand now. After I remove the ice pack I use a deep pore cleanser lotion. In the shower I use a water activated gel cleanser, then a honey almond body scrub, and on the face an exfoliating gel scrub. Then I apply an herb-mint facial mask which I leave on for 10 minutes while I prepare the rest of my routine. I always use an after shave lotion with little or no alcohol, because alcohol dries your face out and makes you look older. Then moisturizer, then an anti-aging eye balm followed by a final moisturizing protective lotion.
If you’re not using sunscreen do it. Retinol serum is black magic when it comes to reducing wrinkles, but wear sunscreen if you do use it. If your hair is curly, use the curly girl shampoo and use curl cream fresh out of the shower get a hair dryer with a diffuser and thank me later.
- balanced diet - exercise - ice pack if my face is a little puffy - ab workout + core yoga - deep pore cleanser lotion - water activated gel cleanser (in shower) - honey almond body scrub (in shower) - exfoliating face gel scrub (in shower) - herb mint facial peel off mask (10 minutes) - alcohol free aftershave - moisturizer - anti aging eye balm - moisturizing protective face lotion
I usually use Honest Amish, but stopped once covid hit and I was rarely leaving the house. I used up the end of the container and haven’t ordered more. I’ve been using Bulldog beard oil from target, which I got free on a coupon. It’s pretty much worthless for my face. I started using a pumice stone on my feet a while back and it sort of helped the thick, dry, rough calluses on my feet. A few weeks ago on a whim I used my nail file on my feet dry and oooooh boy now they’re so soft. Step 3 on a 7-step. I clip my nails and do a 7-step file and buff. No polish, but their always very nice and smooth. Moved to 2x/week shampooing and my hair has gotten a lot better and flakes way down.
Conditioner/oil/balm and a good boar bristle brush. I find the brush much better than a comb, softer one for a short beard and stiff bristles for a longer beard. Will help distribute your natural oils and will look neater as well. And if it’s growing longer trim stray hairs with grooming/beard scissors regularly to help with split ends.
I feel like I look noticeably older in the face since I got my license renewed 2 yrs ago. Any product/routine suggestions that aren't the opening monologue from American Psycho would be appreciated and may even earn a like.
Tretinoin (retinoid), Vitamin C and sunscreen. Don't add all 3 at the same time or you'll regret it. Good starter blog https://theacidqueenblog.com/2015/10/08/skincare-goal-spotlight-anti-aging/
I didn’t get it after the other 25 guys pointed it out but now I think I get the reference. Thanks!!!!!!!!
We are opening up a salon right now. I asked my wife about changing it to TMB Salon and Spa but she said no.
I’m sure someone will tell me this is actually horrible and bacteria/germs are flying everywhere but I don’t care, it’s awesome.
Ramblings on a few products I swear by Spoiler Nail clippers aren’t created equal. Some are dull and just “mash” your nails apart rather than cutting them. Seki Edge (available through Amazon) makes a really nice pair, and you can go higher end than that, but for most people who don’t have hooves or thick diabetic nails they will do everything you need. Their tweezers are good for some things but I prefer http://www.grandpastweezers.com/ for most applications. I have a pair at home, work, and in my car. Kent makes really nice military hairbrushes that are a mix of natural and synthetic bristles. I’ve used mine for 10+ years. Pair that with sawcut combs. For pocket I’d go with the Kent FOT and for wet hair the Kent 10T. Cheap injection molded combs are bad for your hair. The rough edges where the two plates meet during manufacturing can do to your hair what a pair of scissors drug along ballon ribbon will do (curl some random hairs in extreme cases). My son has a blond Afro and the 10T is about the only thing we can use on his hair when it’s wet. Face wash I use Naive Kracie Makeup Cleansing Foam. I randomly found it in a grocery store when I was living in Taiwan #1 and it’s all I’ve used since. Several members in the shaving thread who have PM’d me are already converts. Shampoo wise, I used the Paul Mitchell posted above except the lavender scent. For soap, I like the Yardley’s that are $1/bar but make sure it’s the tallow version and not the vegetarian version that is drying. Shaving and or beard care, I’ve got a whole thread dedicated to my thoughts.
my current routine (dry skin type) for people wanting recommendations AM: - CeraVe Renewing SA Cleanser - Aveeno Calm + Restore Oat Gel Moisturizer - Allie Extra UV Gel Sunscreen during the day: Skinsmart eczema therapy spray if I get sweaty PM during/after shower: - oil cleanser or Albolene over anything that had sunscreen on it (Bioderma Atoderm Oil cleanser is what I have now) - COSRX AHA once a week or so - I’m From Rice Toner - Round Lab Mugwort Calming Cream or any light moisturizer - Curology (my Rx has Azelaic acid, clindamycin, niacinamide, tretinoin) but a product that has 4% Niacinamide + Differin is what I used before Curology - heavy moisturizer before bed (whatever works, currently using Zeroid Intensive Oint-Cream but will probably go back to Soon Jung 2x Barrier Cream) - illiyoon ceramide ato concentrate cream on arms and legs occasionally - yuskinA on hands nightly - kerasal on feet occasionally occasionally use other mugwort products, iunik beta-glucan power moisture serum, other stuff that I can’t remember off the top of my head when im feeling frisky things that didn’t work for me: - any foaming or basic pH cleanser - hyaluronic acid products (not humid enough here) - vitamin c (spoils too quickly and is expensive for dubious results) - snail mucin - propolis - lanolin - any korean sunscreen should be avoided
If you’re looking for a Christmas present idea for yourself this stuff is amazing. I have really long hair past my shoulders and this stuff once a week with the Number 3 then the shampoo and conditioner keeps it really healthy looking with no dead ends. https://olaplex.com/products/bond-maintenance-system-kit-2h21
For beard care I swear by this stuff. It smells amazing as well. https://m.aveda.com/product/17753/2...y-daily-moisturizing-oil#/shade/1_fl_oz/30_ml
