I know this is a predominantly custom PC group, but anyone eyeing one of these? With an 11 month old, I don't really have the time for a full blown setup, so this seems like the perfect alternative to going the console route. I'm curious how long the specs will hold up as I'd like something thats pretty future proof so my son can play when he's a bit older too. https://www.steamdeck.com/en/
I'm not sure what your taste in games is but it's not going to be able to play the newest CoD or whatever like that. Luckily Steam has tens of thousands of other games that aren't like that It's essentially whatever the newest Nintendo thing is called, but you have access to the Steam library. And a lot of the games are cheap as hell. I think I got the entire megaman franchise for like $20
Interesting, really? Reading a bit about the specs (looks like it has current gen Navi Ryzen APU in it so it actually has current gen cpu and gpu cores) I thought it'd be able to handle anything out currently just fine. Makes me a bit hesitant to go for the high end model if it wont be able to handle any current or upcoming games. I figured it was at least comparable to a ps5. I'm not as up to date on current games (see 11 month old in post above) but I thought I read somewhere it could run the new battlefield at 60fps on high?
I'm not saying that stuff is wrong but I have a 10th gen i5 and a 3060, and it runs Battlefield on high reasonably well, somewhere near 120fps. That 3060 card alone is physically larger than the entire steam device so take that fwiw
I’m on the list for one. I’d say pay the $5 reservation fee to get on the list, let it come out, read some actual real world tests for games you like, and go from there.
Yeah, but can I play New World on it? My PC is in the basement. There's times I wish I could be playing it while watching TV on the couch.
I’ve had quite a few I like. Ducky shine mx reds, maxkeyboard mx browns, Razer black widow elite with their green switches (using it now). I like a little clack on my keys. Mx Browns are like your neutral some clack but not too load. Reds are loud and the green switch by razor is seemingly in between and red and brown. I use to dislike razor products because I felt they were cheap but the keyboard has been nice.
Same thing with my main rig in the basement, went the expensive route and bought a laptop for the bedroom. Got the ASUS zephyrus from Best Buy that has the 3070 in it and it’s been awesome.
I think this is the best thread I can find for a question like this: I'm trying to get a gaming laptop to play things like AOE2, Starcraft, etc. If it could handle PUBG that would be awesome, but isn't a requirement. I'm fairly computer literate but this all might as well be in Swahili to me. Budget is ideally <$1000 which I'm sure limits everything. I think I have it narrowed down to these few, but if someone has a better recommendation I'd be all ears. 1) 2) https://www.hp.com/us-en/shop/pdp/hp-pavilion-gaming-laptop-15t-dk200-2s0u4av-1 3) https://www.bestbuy.com/site/hp-15-...gb-ssd-natural-silver/6477889.p?skuId=6477889 4) https://www.ebay.com/itm/265482619433 not sure how I feel getting a laptop from eBay though. Thanks for any and all help.
I’d probably be a little sketched to buy something like that from EBay. Never know if the equipment they show is actually what’s inside the computer until you actually get it. That 2nd one you listed has no GPU. It’s got integrated graphics which usually aren’t going to be able to handle too much in my experience. #1 and 3 have the same GPU a 1650 which is still decent. I’m running a 1660ti on my computer right now and it’s still capable. I think 1 or 3 are the options you should look at. From there it’s really up to if you want more Ram or bigger SSD etc. just small things
any laptop you can buy now will run starcraft and aoe 2. pubg is a massive leap from that and would require a gpu. idk what it's like now but pubg kind of ran like shit a few years ago on my r9 290x you'd probably be fine with any semi-recent gpu
Got a steam code for the Mutant Football League 2022 roster update new DLCs in beta to try in a sponsored stream. Pretty excited about it I loved Mutant League Football on Sega.
Jeffrey Lebowski want to help me with a Sponsored stream on Crystal Clash in about 30 mins after I get my daughter to bed?
I've come a long ways. I beat the entire campaign on standard and am halfway through on moderate. I now understand most of the bonuses you get from attacking each type of solidier. I am still trying to learn what each civ does. Love the game. I bought the 3rd and also Civilization 5 and 6, but haven't even started those yet. Which one would you guys start first?
Is there an ergonomic left hand only keyboard? I bought a RedDragon one and I can't figure out how to properly do the hotkeys. I set them up, but it'll randomly reset and overall just sucks. I have a keyboard that curves to your hands at work and it's tough switching back and forth. I want this: I have this:
Most people prefer the art style of civ V but I think, with the dlc, especially Gathering Storm, that civ VI is superior. You can mod VI to look like V, or so I’ve heard.
I find myself really being drawn to the older, less precise graphics. For example, Roller Coaster tycoon 1-2 were amazing to me, but the newer ones with all the 3D I never find myself playing. I don't know if it's stimulation overload or if I'm just not wanting to adapt. That's what's been holding me back from playing the newer games although some of the quality of life improvements are what keep pushing me to new ones.
Having a weird issue. I installed a new SSD in my laptop this evening. Reinstalled windows onto that and formatted my laptop. Now when i go to connect to my wireless network I can’t see it anymore. Meanwhile I’m connected to the network on my phone and tv. I can see my neighbors wireless networks but can’t see my own
no idea what happened but i just did a buckshot of windows updates and driver updates and something within all that made my network appear once again.
You might go non-KF (so just "K") if the price is the same. I looked this morning, randomly, and the 12900K and 12900KF were within $1 of each other. also, how much is that 3080? Looks like you might up the wattage, but powerful all around.
So initially the F had about 1 less GHz output (I think it was 2.8 GHz) and the KF was $40 more. So I opted for more GHz. In my research, the i7 and higher had more cores (8-10) and less GHz and everything stated I only needed 6 cores for gaming alone. Not doing any streaming or content creation with this build. The 3080 was $900 I believe? Thought about upgrading to the 3090 but it was close to $2000. My buddy told me the 3080 should last me for 4-5 years probably.
Also, general rule for power supply is get one that supports 33% more that what you’ll use. I didn’t look at how much you’ll be using, just saw the other post mentioning the wattage.
16GB is fine unless you’re running like Uber AAA FPS titles but I agree it’s a cheap upgrade future proof option so might as well
Taco Sa1ad I'm not a cpu expert, but the speed outputs are the same, GPU (the dark grey/"N/A" columns) notwithstanding.
KF chips just lack integrated graphics processing and can be overclocked. K chips have integrated graphics and can be overclocked F chips don't have integrated graphics and can't be overclocked.
Ugh I already ordered it last night. NZXT didn't do a good job explaining that at all...they just said the KF version had 1.1 more GHz, which doesn't appear to be the case. Oh well. Strangely enough, they don't even have the K on the website available anymore. Also, my power supply is at 750W. Doesn't say how much it'll be using. The website mentioned that I didn't need the "gold" but that bronze would suffice (think bronze was at 650W).
Did some wattage research and it looks like mine is gonna settle around 500-550...so should be golden for the time being.
