The one on the left is mechanical and runs like a top. I think it was made in 1958. And the one on the right was one of the first battery operated omega’s and it’s fucked.
Looking to get into the watch game. Unfortunately, my budget is in the 3,500 range. I was looking at the TAG aquaracer since it is in my price range. First, thoughts on TAG or is there another brand style that you would recommend? Also, they have a new style with the bubble on the inside of the glass at the 6. I think I like the old style with the date and bubble by the 3. Looking for a nice everyday watch that will take a licking and keep on ticking. Would love a Submariner but the wife will not allow me to drop 10K on a watch. 3K yes 10K no....
I like the look of the Tudor very similar to the Tag and Rolex. Any input on quality between Tudor and Tag? Are they all pretty much the same?
I think you’re going to find a lot of Tag hate ITT in terms of quality and value. But you should ultimately buy what will make you happy. Also, definitely go try them on first.
$144 flieger I got on AliExpress so I can use some of the 52 different 20mm straps I have that I don't use. For instance, the shell cordovan one that Jorts ridiculed me for putting on my Explorer hudson Lets pretend its a Laco
I looked online. Saw that they had the Pepsi look alike. Also noticed most Do not have the date in the face. What’s everyone’s opinion on date vs no date on the Tudor
I prefer no date but it’s on a lot of watches. More importantly, do you sign/date a lot of things and need to know the date? Or can you once or twice per week pull out your phone, glance at tour monitor, etc to get the date? In reality, how many times do you need your watch for the actual time? I’ll often look down, focus on the watch, look away, then remember I need the time.
Grabbed this from C&B, as I didn’t want to fuck up the Tudor OEM nato in the ocean. Obviously not on same level, but gonna grab a bunch more to mix it up. Spoiler but never pleather
Basically every big brand watch does the date at 3 o'clock: Rolex (day date, sub, gmt, etc.), Patek (nautilus, aquanaut, etc.), AP (royal oak), Vacheron (overseas). I don't think any of those would look better with it at 6.
I prefer 3 over 6, but that may be bc most of the watches I know have it at 3. I like Sub no date but I love the GMT and the date.
It’s merely my preference. I’m not suggesting manufactures change, Or that any models would better, or worse, with different placement. Every brand you mentioned has no date options. I’d lean that direction as my recent purchase history suggests. I’ve also never pretended to have conventional taste.
The cyclops was the reason I didn’t pull the trigger in the datejust originally. Not a fan of it but it’s grown on me a bit.
Ya I’m not hating on it. Obviously a matter of preference. A lot of those don’t have no date options though. If you’re getting a royal oak, or a nautilus, or a date just, etc. it has a date window. I think they put it at 3 pm due to symmetry with the crown.
Went to put my name on the list for a no-date sub and just couldn’t do it. Signed up for a Fudd Bond-master instead. Also almost grabbed a Nomos Orion, but shit man… half-priced preowned. That’s a tough sell.
Did you really? Did you handle it in person? It had way more brown tones than I thought from just seeing it online. I also had no idea it was titanium until I picked it up. On a NATO it must have weighed 30g it was insane.
So my AD has all of the Rolex models as “display only” like mentioned on the last page. Actually, all of my AD’s pieces are working watches; I was told other stores got locked models. Regardless, yeah I was just moved by the YM in a way that made the sub seem just too plain. And I’m adamantly against the cyclops and was still sold on the overall aesthetic.
Oh nvm, I thought you were talking about a No Time to Die Seamaster. I love my Yacht Master but it's pretty conspicuous, I only wear it in the right settings.
Also, 90% of the time no-date is the best option because of the dial symmetry it allows. I have seen it work well most often at 6 and more rarely at 3. I agree that Zenith pulls it off very well at 4:30 somehow.
I literally cannot write a date on a piece of paper without rolling my wrist and looking at my watch. Every watch I own has to have a date on it. My accountant has called me out because I’d have to sign/date three to four pieces of paper in a row and I look at my watch in between each one.
I’m looking for a yellow gold vintage watch I can wear for more formal occasions. I’d prefer not plated, and the absence of a bracelet is fine/preferable as I’ll be putting it on a new leather strap. Give me your suggestions/links.

Excellent choice. Ask them to throw in the Tudor NATO strap. My AD did it for me last year; worst they can say is “no.”
yeah that was a no. I mentioned Mayors had a GWP of a Mont Blanc Pix. She said we will take care of you. I got a Wolf watch carrying case. I would have rather had the Mont Blanc pen
