Anyone been to Haywire? Got some people in town next week (some from out of state others from out of country) and looks like it would be a good lunch spot. We have a place with a similar menu near the office in Las Colinas (The Ranch) but since a couple of the guys are flying into Love on Monday I figured it would be relatively convenient after picking them up.
It’s a good spot and there is a great gelato spot a few doors down. If they don’t like the grub at Haywire you can just feed them at the hall.
You referring to the new one near Klyde Warren? Been meaning to check it out but haven’t gone yet I’ve had about 100 meals at The Ranch, if it’s anything like it I’m sure they’ll enjoy it.
Yes that one. Likewise I've had innumerable work lunches/dinners at The Ranch so looking forward to something different while still giving visitors a non-BBQ or Tex-Mex Texas experience
Thunderbird Pies (Cane Roso) makes a killer D-style fwiw. One location in East Dallas and Ft Worth (ghost kitchen) currently.
Haywire in Legacy always a tad underwhelming imo. Great atmosphere, drinks, but for some reason the food never impressed. Not bad by any means just not amazing. Maybe ordering the wrong thing idk.
Hello Dallas people. I’m walking around downtown with time to kill. Anything suggestions on places to grab a drink?
Wife and I haven't been to a nice restaurant since pre-covid. Have any must-try places opened up in the last couple of years? Bonus likes if it doesn't go further south than the m streets
I would say fancy atmosphere since the kids won't be there. But I won't hold it against you if the food is also good Eta: actually anything is on the table. Maybe not like diner tier, but I need to make the most of it
My 2 recommendations would be Petra and the Beast and Khao Noodle. Do not fall under the “fancy” but food is amazing and definitely not a diner.
have a work dinner at Monarch week after next. I'm sure it will be incredible but the place seems incredibly pretentious
ah yes, this place is something one of our team members has COVID in her house, and while she's testing negative she obviously can't come to dinner so we inquired on moving to a different date. $3600 to move or cancel. There's a COVID provision in the contract but they said they wouldn't honor it unless Dallas shuts down again.
45 DAY DRY-AGED BONE-IN AKAUSHI RIBEYE 32OZ :chef’s kiss: I am sure the ones aged longer are great too, 45 days is the max for my palette with dry-aging. I still like it to taste like steak and not something different. Also, the crispy pork skin and yellowtail.

Report: excellent experience. Food and drinks were great and the service was impeccable. Not douchy at all which was a pleasant surprise. Clientele was another story. I guess I don't hang out in enough high end spots to understand before now that the cool kids are trying to be Casey Dutton because we were highly amused by the number of cowboy hats we saw
There is a pair of nesting Bald Eagles at the rugby/soccer park at Buckner & Lake Highlands, across from WRL. Park is closed down until May/June when they will be done nesting and move on. So awesome, you can see them while driving by on Buckner.
I'll be interested to see if they come back to the same spot in years to come. The ones around here usually return to their same nest year after year. The ones closest to my house used the same nest for several years in a row, then one year suddenly moved to their current nest like 50 yards down the road
Khao Noodle closed again and is only going to be doing pop-ups. I am going to cry. https://www.dallasnews.com/food/res...-is-closed-for-good-this-time/?outputType=amp
I don’t see any snow in the forecast its just gonna hit between 30-32 degrees at 4-6 AM on Sunday and the high on Sunday is 63
Who has a few watering hole recs for guys in their mid 30s to early 50s for tonight? Work people. We’re downtown now off pacific. Staying near the arena. I’ve been told Moxies and Bowen house by a co worker bug not sure if these are reliable recs or not.
If you’re specifically looking in that 3-4 block area…Bowen for pretentious craft cocktails and usually quite crowded, it’s a tiny place. Moxies for…the scenery, haven’t been to dragonfly at Zaza in a while, could be an option. 2nd floor at Del Frisco’s is kinda cool. POV: guy that used to go out a lot before Covid but now is in bed by 9 most nights.
