not true anymore. Nevada used to be the epicenter for old MQ1 now MQ9 ops but there’s maybe only one combat unit left there. Guard units across the country have taken over a good bit and there’s now active duty bases with reapers ops spread out
California, Arizona, North Dakota, Iowa, Michigan, Ohio, New York, Tennessee, Arkansas. Not sure if I’m forgetting any
Speaking of drones, some HS student is missing near me, the local news ended the story with “he wants to be an air force drone pilot” I mean, I suppose the job is necessary but Jesus that is dark.
I'm struggling to figure out the dynamics and nuances of the Russian side of things, but it seems like Lavrov and the Russian Foreign Ministry is against a war, and they might be our best hope of avoiding one. I could be very wrong here, of course.
Agreed. Putin=Trump where even the fucks we used to hate have a better grasp of how to/not to act in these situations. I get the feeling that Russia lacks the undercurrent of dissenters we have in this country, or that they are stifled. Also agreed with how our administration has handled this, largely.
Evacuate everyone then blow up a government building lol why even do this shit- Russia is just allowing Ukraine to dig in finally
Dammit…my reserve days are tomorrow and now it’s gunna be crowded and I’m gunna have to look like I’m actually trying. Air Force Reddit is bitching about the four day weekend being cancelled lol
Smells a lot like the FSB blowing up those apartment complexes in 1999 which started the process of Vlad consolidating power in Russia. Typical shit by the Russians.
They will shit on him for what both countries do or don't do. The media are complicit and its disgusting.
Here’s a solid explainer for some who will be new to the thread. It’s from a US Senator so there’s obviously an agenda to try and prevent an invasion, but the facts seem right to me.
This is basically an indictment of the American media and the media we consume in general we should get more media like this
someone needs to explain to him that Ukrainians exercising self determination is actually American imperialism
Every Rep/Senator should have at least a couple of staff members dedicated solely to publishing consistent D messaging. If there were any leadership, they would have ~5 visual aids or animations each day that they would all tweet/instagram throughout the day. But alas..
The media problem is bigger than the parties. Both sides are rampantly guilty of sensationalism and exaggeration. It’s a larger failure of the role of the press to be the fourth estate and present logical, fair-minded information to keep the public abreast of what’s happening in the world and their nation. It’s become far more profitable to align with the interests of one party or another and essentially act as their mouthpiece.
i always find this overly romantic view of some bygone era of media a little suspect media always been partisan, the parties just used to be much closer to one another than now so it wasn't as apparent
I never said anything about it being better in the past. I suppose I did say “it’s become”, but that’s really just in the context of any attempt at removing bias being long gone.
If they’re going through the trouble of planning the attack and filming two days early then they’re definitely invading right?
For me, a largely ignorant non expert, I think it’s one of 2 things. 1) The US/NATO strategy of openly broadcasting intel spooked Russia and delayed the inevitable a couple days 2) Russia is still trying to bluff their way out of this so they’re doing incremental threat increases hoping the west will eventually cave But there definitely seems to be a more serious tone to the coverage of things today, particularly from sources actually in Ukraine or former NatSec types
This plus all the preparations for stuff like blood supplies certainly ain't cheap, if you go through with that then something's obviously in the works.
