a.tramp I think I'm gonna go with your roofers for my windows. They had a great quote. Also gonna replace my old hot ass skylight with a velux with solar blinds. I'm gonna give this summer the business.
Seems like 20-25k is ballpark if you're talking about 26 squares. If you're talking about sq ft of house then your roof may be 30-36 squares which is more like 30k. So many variables.
That's the way our current GE is. I keep hearing about the noise on these and I have no idea what to compare it to. I mean it doesn't run but once every 2 or 3 days and I don't think they're that loud. Maybe I just have a quiet one.
Do you guys put a drying agent in your dishwasher? I was talking to people at work and they were saying I need to add some liquid to my dishwasher. We've lived in the current house for 6 years and I have never added any and it used to dry perfectly.
Have been wanting to extend our concrete patio for some time. Tonight a stranger stopped by to pick up something I was selling on Craigslist and as he’s leaving he hands me his card; he does concrete work. We get to talking and he looks at what I want done and gives me a quote. The problem is this guy’s business can’t be found anywhere online, nothing on Yelp/Google/Nextdoor. The phone number on his card is just his cell. Should this be a red flag? If I assume he’s semi-legit, how bad could someone really screw up a concrete slab?
This guy sounds like me. You can not find my business online anywhere. No reviews, nothing. I have a card with my cell # on it. Somewhere, I have to find the box. But, I never have to search out work and have to turn plenty of work down. Word of mouth is great for motivated individuals with solid work ethic. Can charge the same price as competition but without the marketing/advertising overhead cutting into margins. So he could be awesome. Or he could also suck. The biggest concern would be making sure he had General Liability Insurance. Ask him for proof of insurance as well as pictures of past projects. That is pretty standard stuff that he should not have an issue providing. Good luck.
Bad enough that you’ll rip it out and start over. The guys that built the last house we had only poured a 3” pad with no footers. It cracked right in half. My dad did concrete work for years so our compromise was they ripped it out and we poured a bigger pad ourselves but the right way. In the process they tore up my grass and a the concrete truck did some yard damage too. Get a legit quote too and see if he has any reference of the work he did.
Fuck me getting a job in an area that has no housing and buying off someone whose house won't hit market. He wants an unfinished build that is 3-6 months away from being completed. If it's 3 months that's fine as we will have openings for a daycare at that time but fuck me I don't want to drive 2 hours one way every few days. TLDR: Fuck this housing market for lack of inventory everywhere.
Well the kitchen has been demo’d. Main floor flooring wraps up this week, cabinets next week then a week for countertops. It’s ok, my wife, three young kids, and dog are doing just great I promise.
Ts&Ps. When we were getting quotes to do the master bath, the money wasn't the worst part. It was the thought of being shut out of the master bedroom for 6 weeks in a house with 2 possessed children who don't sleep.
I survived 3 months in the kids shower when they redid my master. Luckily we have 4 bedrooms upstairs and two of my kids sleep in a bunk bed.
Those look pretty accurate. That said, in our old house, we had the higher ranked LG here and in the new one, we have the GE Profile, and they are both just fine (had to get the GE because the countertops here are like 1" under code height, and this was all that would fit...)
Anyone have a recommendation on a nice looking mini fridge or where to get one? Not overly impressed with Amazon’s selection this is for a bar
These look great but business at my bar is going to really need to pick up if I want to spend $2,500 on one
Thanks again for this. I'm going to go with the Bosch 500. Is there a best place to purchase from? I may try and install it myself, it sounds pretty easy. Only issue is the weight. I'm replacing a dishwasher, so everything should be ready to go.
Funshot Residue or any other resident window experts:. Any opinions on these two windows? Had a late quote come in at nearly identical figures. Both installers are reputable. Only real difference I can see is that the burris's have sloped sills and the AWS windows appear to be AAMA certified. Both are the Low E 366 argon variety. http://www.burriswindows.com/tectview-ac.php https://www.americanwindowsystems.com/window_v25.htm
Dishwashers are pretty light, in general. I don't do it for a living but I moved a few and they are not that heavy at all.
Np. I didn't see that model in the ratings but let me know if you want the full review on any of those models and I'll pull it.
Sorry my man. No experience with either of those. Both look good. Burris seems to indicate they are narrower depth (2-7/8") than I've seen. AWS are the standard 3-1/4". Also AWS includes nailing fin which isn't typically used in replacement configuration. Look up the exact models quoted and see if they have a gallery, then pick which one looks the best, barring bad reviews. Some brands will also have lifetime glass breakage warranties, which is damn nice.
Thanks! Is the nailing fin a bad thing in a replacement window? Burris has a few more reviews and I saw an ad for AWS for apartment windows which may be a downside, but both otherwise appear to be standard midgrade vinyls.
Just got a call that bar stools we ordered in October are finally getting delivered on the 17th finally starting to feel settled in
It's not bad, just unnecessary, typically. Installers would remove. Might ask the installation companies if they come with sill expanders/fillers, which ARE nice to have.
Only thing holding us back from fully settling is shipping delays. Things that get delivered in 2-3 weeks feel like prime.
